We are searching for a mission-driven leader with a deep connection to Native communities and a passion for organizational development to take on the role of Director, Organizational Development, Native Services (DOD). This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact by strengthening the capacity of local organizations and empowering Tribal leaders to create positive change for Native youth.

This remote role, reporting to the Lead Director, Organizational Development, is designed for someone who understands the cultural traditions, governance structures, and unique challenges facing Native organizations. The ideal candidate will have strong ties to Indian Country, bringing cultural competence, respect, and strategic expertise to guide leadership, enhance sustainability, and drive meaningful growth.

 

About the Field Operations Group

Field Operations is a large division that is Movement facing and focuses on positive youth outcomes. The Field Operations team focuses on leadership & board development, child safety & quality assurance, military & native services, youth development including life & workforce readiness, and strategic alignment.

About the Role

As part of the Field Services team, you will serve as a trusted advisor, broker of services, and advocate for Native-serving organizations, supporting their strategic growth, leadership development, and operational effectiveness. Your role will involve:

• Building strong partnerships with Tribal leadership, supporting individual giving strategies, and enhancing overall resources.
• Providing strategic guidance to Tribal leaders and boards to strengthen governance and organizational transformation.
• Ensuring safe and effective operations by leading safety assessments and risk management initiatives.
• Offering executive coaching and onboarding for new CEOs to set them up for long-term success.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

Empower Tribal Organizations & Leadership

• Serve as a trusted strategic partner to CEOs, Board Presidents, and Tribal leaders, ensuring they have the resources to drive long-term success.
• Conduct new leader orientations, providing critical insight into available services and support.
• Guide organizations in strengthening individual giving and diversified revenue streams.
• Lead efforts to ensure child safety remains a top priority by supporting risk management and compliance efforts.

Increase Organizational Capacity

• Support leaders in governance with best practices, board engagement, and leadership development.
• Provide hands-on consulting in key areas such as financial management, risk assessment, and strategic growth.
• Promote continuous learning by identifying development opportunities and encouraging participation in national and regional events.
• Ensure organizations complete critical assessments (e.g., KPIs, Standards of Organizational Effectiveness, Formula for Impact) to benchmark and improve performance.

Drive Strategic Growth & Expand Impact

• Offer technical assistance and on-site consultation to support the establishment of new, sustainable sites.
• Work with local organizations to develop data-driven strategies that increase member participation and retention.
• Guide organizations in designing strategic plans that develop future leaders and ensure long-term sustainability.

Additional Responsibilities

• Participate in national and regional strategic initiatives and collaborate with senior leaders to drive excellence across the organization.
• Conduct face-to-face site visits, ensuring organizations meet key operational standards and supporting remediation plans when necessary.
• Travel up to 70% to directly engage with Native organizations and ensure their success.
