DevOps Engineer (mid or senior role)

DevOps is also characterized by operations staff making use many of the same techniques as developers for their systems work.<strong> </strong></p><p>This role’s main purpose is to increase a product team’s ability to deliver applications and services at high velocity, via a combination of automation, tools, process changes, practices, etc.<strong> </strong></p><p>Following the foundations of the DevOps I and II, the DevOps Engineer III is the main point of contact within a product team for all the DevOps activities. This role is a key part of the Software Development/Testing Lifecycle, being an active part of technical reviews and maintaining the roadmap in that product team, being an example for another DevOps and contributing to extend the DevOps Culture at Sequel.<strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Main responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Leads strategic improvements within a Development Team autonomously.</li><li>Design and implement of Build and Release improvements to the Development Team.</li><li>Work closely with products and architecture team to design and support new architectures (containers, microservices, serverless).</li><li>Design and implement new automation tools.</li><li>Define and deliver DevOps strategic improvements.</li><li>Assist with providing third-level support to business users.</li><li>Work on new and existing applications along with enhancements to websites, web applications, and infrastructure.</li><li>Write design technical documents.</li><li>Participate actively on reviews and technical design meetings and provide valuable feedback.</li><li>Mentor other DevOps Engineers (levels I, II).</li><li>Run training sessions for Development Teams so the knowledge on the CI/CD tools and processes are understood.</li><li>Suggests new tools and participates in the evaluation of those.</li><li>Takes responsibility for the delivery of the changes coordinating people in the team.</li><li>Responsible of the follow-up of the implementation of the strategic improvements and best practices in each DevOps team.</li><li>Write design technical documents. Makes sure all the key processes are documented.</li><li>Share information in DevOps forums.</li><li>Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.</li><li>Any other duties commensurate to the grade of the role.</li></ul><p>#LI-SD2</p><h3>Qualifications</h3><p> </p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science or other relevant field and extensive related experience. </li><li>Working knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle. </li><li>Good knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts, testing pyramid and design patterns. </li><li>Good knowledge of functional programming concepts. </li><li>Good knowledge of SQL Server administration. </li><li>Good knowledge of infrastructure/application level monitoring services. </li><li>Good knowledge of Container architectures, good practices and know-how, including container orchestrator services like Kubernetes and Swarm. </li><li>Deep understanding of Version Control System (migrate between VCS, troubleshoot issues with VCS, analysing performance issues). </li><li>Deep understanding of Build and Package process (understanding dependency issues, managing Framework updates, analysing performance issues, optimize packaging process). </li><li>Deep understanding of Release process (zero-downtime deployments, after-release testing, analysing performance issues, application monitoring). </li><li>Good understanding of infrastructure concepts (performance analysis, post-mortem analysis). </li><li>Ability to do a risk analysis. </li><li>Ability to provide estimates and provide cost-based design. </li><li>Ability to review other team members work. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to implement new automation tools. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to improve CI/CD process. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to write technical documents including database design, application design and ongoing documentation of changes and modifications. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to spread knowledge across the team. </li><li>Set measurable goals and meets them. </li><li>Good communication skills.
