Description of Work

The primary purpose of the Classroom Based Health Care Technician II (CB HCT I) position is to ensure safety and quality active treatment for the people residing at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center through direct support and program/service development and implementation. The CB HCT II is part of the team providing continuous active treatment and training that is based on their needs/wishes/preferences/strengths and potential for learning. The CB HCT II is involved in supporting the individual in every aspect of his/her life as a “master trainer” skilled in person-centered philosophies, skill assessments, program design, program implementation and incidental teaching strategies. This training in skill acquisition may be generic or very specialized in nature, but in each case is directed toward enhancing independence and retaining skills that maximize resident self-determination and ability to successfully live as independently as possible.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $32,444.00 – $48,665.00

A Sign-on bonus of $2,500 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs )/Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • 2 years of experience providing direct services to people with developmental disabilities in health care or related area.

  • Be able to successfully complete required training/classes and be certified in CPI.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Be able to observe resident performance and give feedback.

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Shift Hours:

(7:30 am – 4:00 pm) Monday - Friday with occasional weekends and/or evenings

We provide comprehensive residential care to citizens from 37 counties in the western portion of the state.
