Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Regional Campus Recruitment Strategies and Initiatives, the Assistant Director of Regional Campus Visits and Events coordinates event logistics for on and off campus event planning logistics, coordination, and implementation on the Newark campus and supports the planning and event logistics for Lima, Mansfield, and Marion. Provides coordination of Buckeye Preview Day events on each campus October-July annually, Buckeye Bound yield events or receptions; and an annual counselor visit program. Coordinates staff responsible for implementing campus events. Supervises two professional staff on the visits and events team; utilizes the university’s performance management system in evaluating staff performance; provides timely and continuous coaching/mentoring; seeks and supports professional development opportunities.

Supports the execution of other program specific events including those for engineering technology and other key strategic academic majors; oversees staff executing Buckeye Preview Day events and ensures alignment with established plans; coordinates logistical aspects and event planning for campus specific outreach and recruitment events for prospective/admitted freshman and transfer students, their families and school counselors. Uses systems such as Salesforce, Peoplesoft and the Blackthorn registration system to perform timely and accurate entries into databases regarding student information, call/email activity, ensuring timely correspondence and confirming accurate attendance at events. Serves as an expert in the use of the Blackthorn registration system and communicates with the team to troubleshoot, resolve, and update platform on a regular basis. Maintains and reviews event surveys to provide director of regional campus recruitment strategies and initiatives with timely feedback. Ensures methods for collecting event feedback are effective. Executes the planning for all regional campus events once the annual schedule of events is developed and approved. Works with each director to stay within budget constraints for events by monitoring event expenses, supplies and publication costs; collaborates with directors to reserve on and off campus event locations and leads logistical support, ensuring consistent and timely communication and collaboration with academic and staff partners from each of the regional campuses. Provides the highest level of customer service when corresponding with students, families, campus departments, or other stakeholders regarding Ohio State visit and event needs, policies, procedures, and general information.  

Assists in overseeing the day-to-day activities of the admissions office, which includes a data-driven approach to decision-making, and the oversight of recruitment activities and events at The Ohio State University Newark.  Performs other duties as assigned. This position is located on the Newark campus.

Education/Experience

Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Three years’ experience working in higher education or related areas. Experience and success in managerial and/or supervisory capacity; demonstrated excellent writing and communication skills. High propensity for collaboration with faculty, staff, students, parents and key university stakeholders. Competent and comfortable with data interpretation, compilation
