The Team:
This role is within a multidisciplinary team under the Department of Health Tasmania. The team is dedicated to delivering high-quality, recovery-oriented mental health care to children, adolescents, and their families.
The team includes professionals from various disciplines such as:
- Psychology
- Social Work
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Pathology
- Nursing and Medical staff
Together, they provide:
- Comprehensive assessments
- Therapeutic interventions
- Assertive case management
- Community engagement and education
The team works collaboratively within a supportive framework, guided by national mental health standards and evidence-based practices. They are committed to promoting mental wellness, early intervention, and continuity of care across Tasmania’s diverse communities.
The Role:
As part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services and in accordance with Mental Health service principles, the National Safety and Quality Health Service standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Discipline Senior Psychologist - CAMHS will:
- Provide specialist psychology assessment, treatment and assertive case management to CAMHS clients, utilising evidence-based best practice principles within a collaborative and multi-disciplinary framework.
- Assists the Allied Health Director – CAMHS to ensure the quality of clinical psychology work through the implementation of the model of professional accountability and supervision and participation.
You will need:
- At least five years’ postgraduate psychology experience, including extensive experience and comprehensive knowledge of Psychology theory and practice as it applies to a variety of service delivery settings, with at least two years’ experience in an area directly applicable to mental health.
- Advanced knowledge, experience and skills in specialised CAMHS and Psychology specific assessment and the formulation and provision of treatment to infants, children, adolescents and their families consistent with best-practice models.
- High-level strategic, conceptual, analytical, innovative and creative skills including the ability to develop, implement, and evaluate policies, protocols and procedures, advise on appropriate changes, and ensure the most effective utilisation of psychology resources to best meet the needs of the region.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing in November until 10 April 2026.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: Allied Health Professional Level 4
$123,717 to $130,900 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022
