About the role

Marcus & Millichap is looking for a dynamic, results-oriented Senior People Director to join our team! In this exciting position, you will lead and oversee all People functions, ensuring they align with the company's broader objectives and drive impactful results across the business. As a key strategic partner to the Chief People Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in talent acquisition, compensation, benefits and wellness, performance management, training and development, workforce planning, employee relations, and compliance. You’ll collaborate with all levels of the organization to drive essential People initiatives, optimize our HCM system, and foster operational excellence throughout the company. The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Calabasas, CA is $200,000 - $220,000/annual plus bonus. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type of experience withing the industry, education, etc. Marcus & Millichap is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
This is a 100% on-site role in our Calabasas office. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the CPO and other leaders to define and implement a people strategy that aligns with the company’s mission, vision, and goals.
  • Talent Management: Oversee talent acquisition, including recruitment, retention strategies, and succession planning to ensure the company attracts and retains top talent.
  • Employee Engagement & Culture: Drive initiatives that promote a positive organizational culture, employee engagement, and foster collaboration across departments.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Leverage HR data and analytics to make informed decisions and continuously improve the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives.
  • Performance Management: Manage performance management systems that align with business objectives, ensuring employee performance is measured, supported, and aligned with company goals. 
  • Compensation and Benefits: Oversee compensation and benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive and aligned with industry standards to attract and retain top talent while maintaining financial sustainability. 
  • Training & Development: Create and implement employee development programs to upskill the workforce, foster career growth, and promote a learning culture. 
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure HR practices comply with all relevant laws and regulations, managing risk and addressing any employee relations issues in a timely and effective manner. 
  • Leadership Development: Implement programs to develop future leaders within the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and proven experience in people operations or human resources leadership roles, typically 10+ years. HRCI or SHRM certification is a plus.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate business goals into actionable people strategies.
  • Expertise in employee relations, performance management, and talent development.
  • In-depth knowledge of People best practices, labor laws, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with proven ability to build networks and establish strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience managing projects from start to finish, typically with a high level of detail and technical complexity.
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to influence and motivate teams.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency with a commitment to quality and follow-through.
  • Strong business acumen, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous commercial real estate experience is a plus.
