Sentara is hiring an Inpatient Clinical Pharmacist at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital!

Status: Full Time (40 hours)

Hours: Rotating between the hours of 630-2330

Shift: 8.5 hours

Weekend: Every 4th weekend

Required qualifications:

  • Virginia Pharmacist license REQUIRED

  • BLD - Bachelor's Level Degree REQUIRED

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) REQUIRED within 6 months of hire

  • Will consider new graduated pharmacists and pharmacists not licensed in Virginia/NC due to relocation. Must have Virginia or North Carolina (applicable to location) license within 90 days of Sentara start date.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior hospital experience strongly preferred

Job responsibilities:

  • Manages patient drug therapy in accordance with the medical staff approved clinical practice standards
  • Maintains current knowledge of drug use through continuing education
  • Serves as the primary resource for drug information within the hospital
  • Assures the appropriateness of all physician medication orders
  • Precepts pharmacy students as assigned.

Job Summary

BLS required within six months of hire. Please note: Clinical Pharmacists working in Sentara Rx (0014891) are excluded from the BLS requirement. Qualifications:

BLD - Bachelor's Level Degree: Pharmacy (Required)

Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Pharmacist License (RPh) - State license - North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP), Pharmacist License (RPh) - State license - Other/National, Pharmacist License (RPh) - State license - Virginia Department of Health Professionals (VADHP)
