Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership and Project Delivery:
- Act as a technical lead on transportation projects, providing hands-on expertise in planning, design, and construction services for roads, highways, and bridges.
- Directly engage in the technical aspects of project delivery, including detailed design work, technical reviews, and on-site project management.
- Lead the preparation of technical reports, design documents, and construction plans.
- Conduct field inspections and site visits to ensure project compliance with design specifications and standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to project teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Conduct technical reviews and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures to ensure project deliverables meet client expectations and industry standards.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and technical advancements within the team.
Business strategy and Implementation:
- Support the development of office-level action plans to support the regional business plan and encourage strong debate and analysis for growth in an area or discipline.
- Ensure compliance with company expectations for staff utilization and enforce corrective action plans when/where needed.
- Resolve complex operational issues and needs and take actionable steps to remediate impacts and enhance performance.
- Assess and anticipate the organization’s talent needs and design, and implement a comprehensive talent development strategy to meet future needs.
Finance and Operations:
- Ensure the profitability of the regional office and its projects.
- Measure and monitor budget and operational performance, and communicate key metrics and information regularly to the leadership team.
Operational Responsibility:
- Maintain a defined level of chargeability.
- Work closely with other practice leaders and support teaming within their areas of responsibility.
- Maintain client communication in coordination with other offices and ensure satisfactory client experience, project production, and QA/QC protocols.
- Oversee succession plans and, where appropriate, support the development of defined successor(s) across the team.
- Manage staff compensation, performance, and development.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, client/contractual requirements, and corporate policies/procedures.
- Facilitate effective communication within the region by implementing regular meetings, written updates, and informal engagement strategies to enhance information sharing, decision making, team alignment, and collaboration.
This position supervises and manages a team of entry-level to senior-level professionals.
Telecommute 2 days a week.
Frequent regional travel to worksites in various counties in Southern California.
Requirements:
