Whether a patient requires a minimally invasive procedure or a major surgery, Union Hospital’s surgical teams are dedicated to providing patients with excellent care. Equipped with the latest surgical and monitoring tools, caregivers are able to perform an array of surgical procedures. As an RN on the General Surgery team, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education. This opportunity will not only allow you to advance your nursing skillset but also help to provide a safe and thorough visit as you are a vital part of assisting in the execution of the care plan.
A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 8:00AM – 4:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage and establish care plans.
Administer medications and treatments.
Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.
Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures and specialized patient care equipment.
Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families.
Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care.
Participate in quality initiatives, process improvements and research activities to improve patient outcomes, patient experience and patient safety.
