Program Director, CSS

Founded in 1862 as the New England Hospital for Women and Children, the Dimock Center heals and uplifts individuals, families, and our community. Operating on a nine-acre campus in Roxbury, The Dimock Center serves communities in Boston and across the state, providing comprehensive, culturally-competent Health and Community Care, Behavioral Health Services, and Child and Family Services.

Women’s Renewal/Clinical Stabilization Service (CSS) at The Dimock Center, located in Roxbury, MA is a CSS for 16 women. The Clinical Stabilization Services (CSS) for Substance Use Disorders Level III.5 consist of 24-hour, clinically managed detoxification services that are provided in a non-medical setting. These services, which usually follow Acute Treatment Services (ATS) for Substance Use Disorders Level III.7, include supervision, observation, support, intensive education, and counseling regarding the nature of addiction and its consequences, relapse prevention, outreach to families and significant others, and aftercare planning for patients beginning to engage in recovery. CSS provides multi-disciplinary treatment interventions and emphasizes individual, group, family, and other forms of therapy. Linkage to aftercare, relapse prevention services, and peer support and recovery-oriented services, such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, are integrated into treatment and discharge planning. Individuals may be admitted to CSS directly from the community or as a transition from inpatient services.

Under the supervision of our COO, the Program Director will plan, direct, oversee and manage the operations and staff within the program. The Program Director will establish a program of daily activities which are designed to facilitate resident participation and to promote resident recovery. The Program Director will develop daily/weekly schedules that ensure opportunities for residents to participate in groups. The Program Director will also ensure that staff are available and will regularly communicate with residents outside of scheduled sessions to monitor status and progress. Collaboration with referral sources to ensure a steady flow of eligible clients to the program and ensuring a safe environment for residents is essential.

Responsibilities: (May include all or part of the following):

• Full responsibility for the administration and/or operation of the CSS program on a full-time basis.
• Responsible and accountable for the quality of care delivered.
• Recruit, employ and retain qualified personnel to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
• Plan, organize, direct and evaluate operations to ensure the provision of adequate and appropriate care and services.
• Monitor and assure that incidents, accidents and resident/staff complaints are reported and documented correctly.
• Comply with applicable Massachusetts and federal laws and regulations.
• Assure complete and accurate documentation through spot-checking and on-going supervision.
• Assure that staff treat patients with dignity and respect.
• Assure staff follow facility policies and procedures.
• Assist in creating a team-oriented atmosphere that enhances patient care and quality of life.
• Manage operations in accordance with established fiscal parameters.
• Implement directives and ensure the implementation of organizational policies and procedures, as well as the development and implementation of appropriate service policies.
• Establish and maintain effective channels of communication.
• Ensure staff development including orientation, in-service education, and staff continuing education.
• Direct and monitor organizational Performance Improvement activities.
• Assure appropriate staff supervision during all operating hours.
• Communicate with immediate supervisor regarding patient needs, change in status, and all emergencies regarding medical or psychiatric condition.
• Participate in the Performance Improvement program.
• Participate in the review, analysis and appraisal of the effectiveness of the total program.
• Evaluate the performance of the individuals in the program to establish standards and the individual's professional development in accordance with Dimock policy.
• Implement all utilization review activities.
• Coordinate the timely implementation of corrective action plans and controls.
• Be familiar with federal, Massachusetts and accreditation regulations and maintain them in the program.
• Be responsible for familiarizing the employees with all laws and regulations.
