Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance/Tool Room Intern to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Pass & Seymour Team in Concord, NC. This intern will support a variety of skilled troubleshooting, maintenance, modification, and repair work on various plant equipment, including electrical and mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC and compressors.

 

What Will You Do?

  • Highly Motivated and detail oriented individual Machines, tools and equipment used: CNC and manual vertical and horizontal mills, lathes, surface grinders, drills saws and assorted measuring tools.
  • Materials used: Aluminum, mild steel, H13, A2, A6, D2, S7, 01, CPM10V, CPMm4, brass, copper, stainless steels, plastics, and phenolics and others.
  • This individual will be asked to assist the Tool and Die Makers plan their work and all the various stages to obtain completion of a job in a cost-effective manner. Example:  cut raw stock, mill, drill, grind, heat treat, finish grind, EDM.
  • Work directly with engineers and other technical personnel to make changes in tooling and build jigs, fixtures, and gages. Make vendor contacts.
  • Able to read manufacturing prints /GDT.
  • Experience with SolidWorks preferred but not required.

Qualifications

Required Skills

 

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Some mechanical or trigonometry courses required. 

Experience:

  • Must have experience as a Machinist or have taken machining courses.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Required:

  • Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Proficiency with computers.
  • Extensive knowledge of PLC and machine automation and mechanical systems.
  • Moderate knowledge of electrical systems up to 480v, combustion systems (preferred), hydraulics, pneumatics.
  • Intermediate reading and writing skills in English.
  • Math skills, particularly in Trigonometry.
  • Able to work overtime when necessary.
  • Able to perform repetitive job functions; hand mobility, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Manual dexterity required for assembly and operating tools and machines.
  • Ability to safely operate moving equipment properly without risk to self, others and equipment.
