We’re Exai Bio.

Our mission is to deliver the earliest and most accurate diagnosis of cancer. We aspire to enable a world where cancer can be detected early, diagnosed accurately, treated in a personalized and targeted way, and ultimately cured.

And we’re looking for a Director or Senior Director of Business Development.

The biopharma partnership role builds and executes on growth strategies for the life sciences/drug development market segment. This role will be critical in enabling strategic expansion of ongoing as well as evaluating and potentially securing the acquisition of new biopharma partners.

This individual will lead business development functions that will generate new deals and ensure deep partner satisfaction and excellence in bringing Exai’s current capabilities and new solutions.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Development and is a remote position based in the US (preferred West Coast or East Coast, close to biopharma hubs).

Requirements

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with partner companies to set the direction and scope for implementation of partnership agreements: define key activities, timing and responsibilities for parties, ensure effective and efficient partnership governance
  • Establish network and facilitate knowledge regarding partner company, including company organization/leadership, business strategy, priorities and financial health
  • Lead the development of the annual growth strategy and plan.Engage in and support external-facing discussions and builds strong relationships with key decision makers within an identified set of strategic accounts
  • Stand accountable for execution of strategic plans to grow and expand business within the biopharma segment, with objectives and key results (OKRs) linked to success
  • Build a deep understanding of the oncology therapeutic landscape and translate key trends and market events to business opportunities or headwinds
  • Serve as a thought partner to biopharma companies on their precision medicine initiatives and identify new, innovative partnership opportunities across Exai’s capabilities and solutions
  • Serve as first point of escalation on any issue arising for any partnership within within the biopharma segment
  • Liaise with product, program and project management, R&D, regulatory, legal and finance to provide information/updates as needed
  • Engage regularly with and update senior management on partnerships, communicate milestones, opportunities and any key issues and paths for resolutionMaintains availability to work outside of a regularly scheduled shift
  • Travel domestically up to 30-50% of the time
  • Handle Other projects as periodically assigned

What You Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a scientific discipline, advanced scientific degree and experience in genomics is highly preferred
  • 10+ years of professional business development/alliance management experience or life science tools sales
  • Experience at a therapeutic and/or diagnostics company
  • Experience managing pharmaceutical alliances / partnerships (alliance management, business development or CRO relationships)
  • Scientific and strong business/business development experience; willing to provide term sheet of proven deals and closure of R&D and commercialization agreements across industries with a B2B model
  • Strong knowledge and credibility in the oncology market, both US and internationally
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in life sciences or related industry
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to optimally lead cross functionally, interface with and influence technical, clinical and leadership team stakeholders
  • Proven project management, solution-oriented leadership, problem-solving and facilitation skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and experienced presentation preparation and presentation skills using Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with the exception of a medical or religious exemption

  • Base Salary Range: $200,000 to $230,000 takes into account factors including experience, skills, location, education and other compensation benefits being offered.
