Job Description

Vice President User Experience Engineering

 

Reporting to the SVP of Platform Engineering responsible for ServiceNow’s technology platform including services and infrastructure, this executive will lead a global development team of 400+ engineers spanning the United States, Hyderabad India, and Europe.

 

This engineering leader owns the user experience layer for the ServiceNow platform – the core metadata and runtime technology for creating and customizing cloud applications across web, mobile, and conversational interfaces.  This leader owns the core UI layer as an enabling technology we use to build, deploy, and run SaaS-based business applications in the cloud.  The UX Engineering team owns the full stack across each experience including backend metadata, services, APIs, frontend, and low-code builders.

 

This individual will be a high potential technology leader who understands technical and business realities and can articulate both a near-term action plan and a long-term vision and exert positive influence on the rapid achievement of milestones. The VP Engineering will have a track record in the delivery of software products with proven experience in building, managing and motivating a strong distributed team of web developers and software engineers responsible for developing and deploying web-scale, SaaS-based solutions according to customer and business requirements. This role will have visibility at the senior executive levels of ServiceNow and manage key mission critical programs that impact the division and other teams across the company. This leader must be a true cultural evangelist who will advocate for both the division and company’s forward-looking transformation.  This leader must be passionate about availability, reliability, and resiliency as it is the backbone of the entire cloud suite.

 

Central to this role will be helping to support ServiceNow’s charter to transform the business applications industry by focusing on:

·      Developing the UX Platform used for building and deploying the technology foundations that power our SaaS Applications, and incorporating the resulting best practices across the organization.

·      Coaching and mentoring a first-class development team to maintain current product velocity as the company scales.

·      Asses the engineering team and make any necessary adjustments to fully align organizational goals with core competencies.

Qualifications

Key requirements and accountabilities for this role include:

·      A thorough understanding of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) stemming from both application and web scale company experience.

·      Experience with complex architectures and helping make technical trade-offs.

·      Technical depth in the areas of datacenters, network architecture, management protocols, and front-end development.

·      Strong underpinning of data infrastructure concepts as it relates to leveraging high performance cloud systems.

·      Values and has experience with implementing lightweight engineering process

·      Experience building a SaaS application product utilizing a combination of modern DevOps tools (Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, JIRA, Bamboo
