Summary: The Transportation/Distribution Accountant records and reconciles all transportation, freight and distribution transactions and costing.  This includes, but is not limited to:

• Distribution weekly estimated cost reports and monthly financial accruals for all Distribution expenses for Bachoco USA

• Bachoco USA Transportation weekly estimates for Transfer freight and monthly financial accruals and allocations to the producing plants.

• Weekly Customer Freight analysis for sales and transportation management.

• Weekly Distribution analysis for distribution management.

• Prepare Annual Budget for Distribution, Bachoco USA Transportation and Customer Freight.

• Weekly and Monthly Analysis of Actual versus Budget for Distribution, Bachoco USA Transportation and Customer Freight.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Operate a computer with Microsoft Windows-based programs. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point. Must be a fast learner in using our in-house ERP system and/or SAP for use in comparing actual expenditures with expected expenditures.

• Assist all levels of management, plant and corporate, with the preparation and analysis of weekly, monthly and quarterly operating reports, and statistics.

• Aid the Director of Cost Accounting with the weekly financial presentations to upper management concerning prior week’s results.

• Work with Transportation and Distribution managers in analysis of cost trends and opportunities.

• Ability to track volumes, statistics, and dollars.  This will need to be done weekly, monthly, year-to-date, and annually.

• Ability to analyze variances to expected outcome or operating standard.

• Analyze weekly large variances in actual versus standard results and be able to discuss them with management

• Responsible for working with Transportation and Distribution managers to ensure accurate reporting or all production transactions.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business related major (from four-year College or university) or Equivalent Work Experience. 

 

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Bi-lingual English / Spanish (preferred)

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
