The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is seeking to fill a Wildlife Biologist vacancy in the Enfield (Region F) Headquarters.
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: The IF&W Resource Biologist assists in the implementation of the regional wildlife management program. Work includes, but is not limited to; providing technical support to the Department, other agencies, organizations, and the public; providing technical support and recommendations to the regulatory process; assisting in operational plans for the management of wildlife resources; represents the Department at public meetings; assists with identifying, evaluating, and mapping of important wildlife habitats; implements habitat programs on private and state-owned lands; assists with the direction of the regional nuisance wildlife program; determines the impact of development proposals on wildlife species and their habitats; and assists the Wildlife Resource Assessment Section with research and survey needs identified in the Department’s species planning process.
Preference will be given to those that reside within 50 air miles of the Enfield Regional Office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree in Biology, Fisheries or Wildlife Management, or related field -AND- two (2) years of progressively responsible related laboratory or field research and/or management experience. Equivalent experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
REQUIRED SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS - In addition to the standard application form, you MUST address each of the following items to be scored properly.
- Describe your experience in the field application of wildlife species management and/or habitat management, especially as it relates to:
a. Wildlife surveys, inventories, and biological data collections
b. Animal damage control activities and resolving nuisance wildlife issues
c. Environmental assessments of proposed project impacts on wildlife and habitat under NEPA or other state / federal regulatory permitting
d. Land stewardship experience which includes monitoring properties for land use practices or alterations that must comply with specific legal limitations, consulting with private landowners, administering conservation easements, etc.
2. Describe your work experience with assessing, prescribing and implementing wildlife habitat management or restoration.
3. Describe your skill level and experience using computers, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, mapping software and GIS.
4. Describe your experience, skill level, and abilities with aerial census / surveys, and the operation of GPS, ATVs, snowsleds, and various watercraft.
5. Describe your professional experience in coordinating programs or projects with public or other working groups that highlights your organizational, communication, problem solving, and consensus building skills.
