Physician Associate Studies at Miami University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Pharmacist. This unique position combines significant teaching responsibilities within the PA program with ongoing clinical practice, ensuring the curriculum remains current, evidence-based, and clinically relevant. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in educating future Physician Associate/Assistants on pharmacotherapy principles, drug mechanisms, patient safety, and inter-professional collaboration, while maintaining expertise through direct patient care.Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Curriculum Development:
Develop, deliver, and evaluate engaging lectures, small group sessions, and laboratory exercises on a wide range of pharmacotherapy topics relevant to PA practice, including but not limited to: Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics; Autonomic, Cardiovascular, Pulmonary, Endocrine, Gastrointestinal, Renal; Infectious Disease, Neurological, Psychiatric, Pain Management, and Oncology Pharmacology; Medication Safety, Adverse Drug Reactions, and Drug Interactions; Prescribing Principles, Dosing, and Route of Administration; Pharmacogenetics and Personalized Medicine; Over-the-Counter Medications, Herbal and Supplements; Inter-professional Education and Collaborative Practice Models.
Contribute to the ongoing development, review, and revision of the pharmacology curriculum to ensure alignment with ARC-PA standards, current clinical guidelines, and evolving healthcare needs.
Develop and grade examinations, quizzes, assignments, and other assessment tools to evaluate student learning and competency.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their academic performance and clinical reasoning skills.
Mentor and advise PA students on academic progress, professional development, and career pathways.
Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum committees, and other departmental and institutional committees as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE-accredited College/School of Pharmacy; current, unrestricted pharmacist licensure in State of Ohio, or ability to obtain prior to employment; completion of a PGY1 Residency; Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) and/or other relevant pharmacy specialty (e.g., BCACP, BCCP).
Consideration will be given to applicants with a minimum of 2 to 3 years of post-residency clinical practice experience; demonstrated teaching experience in a health professions education setting (e.g., guest lectures, precepting students, formal courses); excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment; experience teaching in a PA, Medical, or Pharmacy program; experience with curriculum development and assessment in higher education; demonstrated record of scholarly activity; prior experience with interprofessional education initiatives.
