Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM) has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine’s faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day. A postdoctoral position is available to pursue basic and translational cancer research in Dr. Jun-Lin Guan’s laboratory at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Department of Cancer Biology.

Research in Dr. Guan’s lab aims to understand the fundamental principles of cell signaling in the regulation of basic cellular functions in normal cell and developmental processes and to determine how the disruption of normal signaling pathways lead to cancer and other diseases. We are a well-established laboratory with extensive experiences and contributions in cancer research as well as strong training record for postdocs for more than 30 years at Cornell University, University of Michigan, and University of Cincinnati. Many of the former trainees went on for successful independent academic and other positions in the US and elsewhere. Please visit https://med.uc.edu/depart/cancer-biology/labs/guan-laboratory for more information on our laboratory.

We are interested in recruiting self-motivated, recent Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. graduates with the drive to succeed and the desire to be competitive at the highest level. The new postdocs will pursue studies on breast cancer metastasis and/or mechanisms of progression of vascular malformation to angiosarcoma using several unique mouse models of the diseases recently established in the laboratory. The trainees will gain experience in multiple state-of-the-art approaches including CRISPR-based genetic screen, single cell transcriptomics, proteomics and genomics, organoids, and optogenetics for studies of multifaceted roles of autophagy, intracellular protein trafficking and other fundamental cellular processes in cancer progression and metastasis in vivo.
