About the role

Job Summary/Basic Function:

To manage the event security program for campus. Assist with emergency and non-emergency events, including but not limited to, event security budget, administration, personnel, information systems, general office management, training, and policy development.

Campus Security Authority: This position is identified as a “Campus Security Authority (CSA)” per the federal law known as the Clery Act. Per this law, the employee is required to report any crimes that he/she becomes aware of to the Clery Compliance Officer. Additionally, CSAs are required to complete annual training prescribed by the Clery Compliance Officer.

Level Scope:

Spends the majority of time (50% or more) achieving organizational objectives through the coordinated achievements of subordinate staff. Manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments. Establishes departmental goals and objectives, functions with autonomy. Manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and often physical resources in compliance with departmental and campus wide goals and objectives. Ensures subordinate supervisors and professionals adhere to defined internal controls with a focus on policy and strategy implementation. Manages systems and procedures to protect departmental assets and requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics within one area.

Essential Functions:

● Oversee the day-to-day management of the part-time event security program, including recruitment, hiring, training, and scheduling of staff for athletic events, campus events, alcohol compliance, and fire watch duties.
● Oversee scheduling, training, and performance of part-time event security staff for football games, athletic events, alcohol compliance, fire watch duties, and other campus events.
● Ensure compliance with university policies, safety protocols, and event-specific procedures for part-time security personnel.
● Manage the scheduling and assignment of part-time security personnel to ensure adequate coverage for all events, including athletic events, concerts, and other campus activities.
● Provide regular feedback to part-time staff, conduct performance reviews, and implement coaching and disciplinary actions as needed.
● Develop and maintain a comprehensive training program tailored to part-time security personnel, covering event-specific security needs, alcohol compliance, and emergency response protocols.
● Oversee the budget related to the part-time event security program, including tracking personnel costs, purchasing necessary equipment, and managing inventory control for uniforms, radios, and other resources.
● Serve as the main point of contact for part-time event security staff, ensuring clear communication of responsibilities, event details, and emergency procedures.
● Coordinate with internal and external partners, such as Athletics and campus event organizers, to ensure that security needs are met and that part-time personnel are adequately trained for each event.
● Respond to campus emergencies during events, ensuring that part-time staff follow proper procedures and work in coordination with full-time security personnel and external law enforcement if necessary.
● Ensure a high level of customer service and professionalism from part-time security staff when interacting with event attendees, faculty, staff, and the general public.
Additional Departmental Responsibilities (35% of time):
