Data Scientist

Aperio Global’s Intelligence programs is seeking a talented and experienced Data Scientist specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and associated data preparation. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in identifying challenges and opportunities through the analysis of structured and unstructured data. As a Data Scientist with NLP expertise, you will be responsible for transforming complex datasets into clear and actionable insights that aid senior organizational leaders in making informed decisions related to production, resources, and personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform NLP Tasks: Utilize your expertise in NLP to select the most suitable Python libraries, apply appropriate pre-processing actions, analyze data, and assess model performance. Design and implement effective NLP solutions to extract meaningful information from large collections of documents.
• Python NLP Packages: Leverage your proficiency with Python NLP packages, such as Spacy, Gensim, or NLTK, to analyze and process textual data effectively, enabling the Sponsor to gain valuable insights from unstructured information.
• Deep Learning Frameworks: Demonstrate your experience in working with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, Tensorflow, or Keras, and employ HuggingFace Transformers library and hub to enhance NLP models and methodologies.
• Text Classification and Topic Modeling: Develop machine learning models for text classification and topic modeling using standard machine learning techniques (Scikit-learn) or deep learning models, helping customers make data-driven decisions.
• Encoder-Decoder and Generative Models: Utilize your expertise in encoder-decoder and generative language models to enhance NLP tasks and drive innovation in solving complex business challenges.
• Methodology and Results Communication: Clearly communicate methodological choices and model results to stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, ensuring the effective dissemination of insights and findings.
• Proficiency in SQL: Leverage your experience and proficiency with SQL, including common table expressions, set operations, aggregated functions, and nested subqueries, to extract and manipulate data efficiently.
• Version Control and GPU Utilization: Utilize version control systems like Github and Jenkins to manage code and collaborate effectively with the team. Additionally, leverage GPU computing for accelerated data processing when applicable.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated professional or academic experience in NLP tasks, Python programming, and deep learning frameworks.
• Strong proficiency in Python NLP packages, including Spacy, Gensim, or NLTK.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Tensorflow, or Keras and the HuggingFace Transformers library and hub.
• Proven experience in creating machine learning models for text classification and topic modeling.
• Familiarity with encoder-decoder and generative language models for NLP tasks.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency in SQL, version control systems (Github, Jenkins), and GPU utilization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to work independently or within a team environment.
