Role: Senior Underwriter – Architects & Engineers

Location: Los Angeles, CA or Chicago, IL

Here you’ll use your common sense, positive attitude and ambition to place good risks, create a pipeline of business and be a “go-to” resource for Architects & Engineers, Contractors Professional, and Real Estate Developers expertise for wholesale brokers throughout the region.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Underwrite, price and negotiate accounts consistent with the quality of the risk and according to the company’s strategies and guidelines for the Architects & Engineers product line: https://www.hiscox.com/brokers/architects-engineers

• Develop new relationships and maintain existing relationships with wholesale brokers throughout the Midwest Region

• Maintain excellent customer service standards

• Work with operations, claims, finance and marketing to help build or enhance products and contribute to the financial performance of the business unit

• Become part of a dynamic team striving for excellence with great career advancement possibilities

• When permitted, dedicate 10-20% of time to regional travel for broker visits and industry events

Requirements:

• 5+ years’ underwriting experience in Architects & Engineers is preferred

• Strong relationships with wholesale brokers in the Midwest Region preferred, but not required

• B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited College or University

• Outgoing, driven, high attention to detail and results focused mentality

• The ability to identify creative solutions for our partners and push new business production on small, mid-market and national sized risks

Salary Range: 100-120k

**Please note that this position is hybrid and requires two (2) days in our office weekly**
