The institute fosters collaborative, use-inspired research aimed at expanding the capacity of communities, critical systems, and infrastructure to withstand, respond to, and recover from manmade and natural catastrophes.
Position Summary
The Director of Strategic Partnerships - Arlington works as part of a global team to develop
effective relationships with new and existing industry partners, both in the National Capital Region and across Northeastern’s global university system.
The role specifically focuses on securing key objectives including industry and experiential learning projects, co- op education placements, research opportunities, and corporate learning and collaboration engagements. The Director is responsible for the cultivation and growth of a portfolio of company, government and institutional relationships in the National Capital Region. In addition, they contribute to guiding the Arlington campus’s career development strategy and career placement targets for program graduates. To meet these responsibilities, the Director actively collaborates with colleagues on campus, in co-operative education, corporate learning (“B2B”), the colleges, and across Northeastern’s global university system locations.
Qualifications
- 10 years+ work experience in the private sector or higher education. Existing relationships with employers preferred; experience in supporting students to secure career placement considered an asset.
- Proven track record in business development, fundraising, strategic relationship management and/or strategic planning.
- Appreciation of industry growth trends and workforce development needs in the National Capital Region, and motivated to make education options more accessible and inclusive.
- Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and creative with exceptional communication skills.
- Creative thinker, action-oriented, and versatile, with ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.
- Proven ability to lead and manage negotiations and to implement productive initiatives that drive value for Northeastern.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
External Relationships
Develop current and attract new partners to the university across company, government and institutional relationships.
Leverage relationships to grow co-op, experiential learning projects, corporate learning, and research opportunities, and combine with an event strategy to grow awareness.
Provide insight into what existing and prospective partners want and need to drive the development of new offerings.
Internal Relationships
Effectively partner and build productive relationships across the Global University System, including the B2B team and Colleges at
Northeastern to grow, design, launch, deliver, and scale impactful products and relationships.
Support internal operational teams in ensuring the smooth delivery of services to partners.
Stakeholder Engagement
Source and represent Northeastern at key industry events and
conferences with a focus on deepening employer and community engagement, building Northeastern’s brand and attracting strategic partnerships.
Operations
Integrate active, high-quality and strategic usage of Salesforce and other key systems/processes.
Leverage data to report to leadership on the status of existing and prospective partners.
Provide benchmarking data and reports to aid partners in achieving their goals.
