We are currently seeking a Machine Operator to work at our Cudahy, WI, facility. Machine Operators are part of an integral team of quality and technical professionals who take great pride in helping ATI achieve production and quality goals and objectives.
As a Machine Operator, you will use machine tools and operate CNC machines to prepare test samples for metallurgical testing and perform certain metallurgical tests, such as tensile and creep testing. A successful Machine Operator is action and detail-oriented, has a quality and customer focus, has strong problem-solving skills, and makes sound and timely decisions on product quality.
To become successful, you must be able to quickly learn ATI, our products, processes and quality standards. We are currently seeking experienced level candidates who can work 2nd shift or 4th shift. 2nd shift is Monday through Friday, 3pm-11pm, and 4th shift is Sunday night through Thursday night, 11pm-7am. Training is on 1st shift for approximately 2 months, Monday through Friday, 7am-3:30pm. Upon hire, applicants must pass a basic aptitude test.
Additional Responsibilities
- Prepare material layout for proper testing by sectioning off test material
- Position material appropriately for form grinding, threading of cylindrical test specimens, polishing of test specimens, and redlining of test specimens
- Prepare, manipulate and position etch samples for sawing, shaping, milling and surface grinding of rectangular-shaped test specimens
- Produce test specimens through hot working operation of the Hot Compression Tester and related equipment is performed jointly with the IFPTE techs
- Store, scrap and dispose of production-related test material and acceptance material
- Perform experimental Heat Treat Operations
- Pick-up and delivery of test material.
Basic Qualifications
- At least one (1) year of manufacturing experience
- Some experience running manufacturing equipment, lathes, saws, etc. Manual lathe experience is acceptable as long as there is good manufacturing experience
- Experience using measuring tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent, Vo-Tech Certificate or associate degree in electrical, mechanical or another related curriculum
- At least six (6) months of CNC Machine Operation (highly preferred)
- Lean and continuous improvement experience.
Skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills with the self-initiative to manage competing priorities
- Proficient with blueprint reading.
