About the role

The Oracle Health Core Platforms Operations team is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead a dynamic team of Site Reliability Engineers and Site Reliability Developers. In this hybrid leadership and technical role, you will be responsible for the reliability, performance, and operational excellence of Oracle Health's cloud-native and legacy Millennium platforms that support essential healthcare applications.

You’ll combine hands-on engineering leadership with people management to drive high system availability, automation using industry standard best programming practices  and compliance with industry standards—ensuring that healthcare providers and patients can depend on our technology every day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage and mentor a team of SREs and developers focused on system reliability, automation, and continuous improvement.
  • Implement best programming practices (code reviews, design patterns, testing strategies, software release management cycle (CI/CD, SDLC)
  • Standardize tooling and frameworks across the SRE team
  • Providing architectural guidance for infrastructure and product reliability tooling
  • Enabling SREs to write production-grade, maintainable code while maintaining operational responsibilities.
  • Coaching and mentoring the team to improve programming discipline and efficiency
  • Oversee the design and operation of highly available, secure, and scalable systems on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
  • Define, measure, and continuously improve service-level objectives (SLOs), indicators (SLIs), and agreements (SLAs).
  • Drive incident response readiness and lead post-incident reviews to improve system resilience.
  • Promote DevOps best practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD automation, and robust observability.
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, security, compliance, and support teams to deliver reliable solutions in a regulated environment.
  • Participate in planning, architecture discussions, and risk management across product lines.

Technical Expertise:

  • 10+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, DevOps, or software engineering roles.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, especially Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or similar.
  • Strong proficiency with IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Competency in monitoring and observability (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog).
  • Experience with scripting/programming (Python, Go, Bash, Java, Ruby, Javascript, C/C++).
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).

Leadership & Management:

  • 5+ years leading engineering or reliability-focused teams in a production environment.
  • Proven ability to coach engineers, set goals, and build a collaborative team culture.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to drive reliability strategy while balancing priorities like compliance, cost, and velocity.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in healthcare IT or regulated industries with exposure to HIPAA, HITRUST, or SOC 2.
  • Familiarity with Cerner Millennium systems or other clinical platforms.
  • Experience with enterprise service management practices (ITIL, change/release management).
  • Exposure to service mesh, distributed tracing, or zero-trust architectures.
