Senior Systems Engineer (MS&A)

LinQuest is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Modeling and Simulation Analyst) to work with our team in the Destin-Fort Walton Beach, FL area. An active Secret clearance is required.

The selected candidate will support the Eglin AFB Armament Directorate’s modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) Studies team to drive simulation-based, mission-level analysis initiatives utilizing the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling software (AFSIM) M&S suite. Qualified individuals will have a background in modeling and simulation, systems engineering, operations research, plus experience with weapon systems and mission areas.

Responsibilities:

• Support complex space-based architecture trade studies.
• Create and refine mathematical and simulation models (using C++ and/or SimPy), of weapon systems, dynamics, and effects to a level of fidelity appropriate for mission-level analysis.
• Support system-level integration and validation.
• Develop analysis tools and visualizations using Python or similar.
• Help define and analyze satellite missions and evaluating mission capabilities/performance for various scenarios and vignettes.
• Support end-to-end weapon system architecture analyses and simulate operational tasking and resource utilization.
• Be proficient at framing conceptual challenges, developing and documenting methodologies to model, simulate, and analyze those challenges.
• Communicate (both written and verbal) clear insights and observations based on complex analytical models and technical data interpretation to senior-level leadership and external customers.
• Collaborate with a range of organizations and customers to obtain necessary authoritative data, analytic techniques, and assumptions so that results from the above activities remain consistent with the general OSD analytic community.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership and knowledge transfer as needed, to facilitate the successful adoption of technologies newly introduced into the AFSIM M&S suite.
• Demonstrate technical ownership and accountability.

Required Skills and Experience: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Math, Operations Research, or similar technical field.
• 10+ years of demonstrated MS&A experience.
• A SME-level understanding of modeling and simulation functions and how they relate to weapons operations at the tactical level or of operations such as exercises, plans, coordination, demonstrations, such as space flag and other related war gaming events.
• Hands-on technical drive and accountability.
• Collaborates well with a diverse group of skill sets and backgrounds.
• High motivation, creativity, and flexibility to work in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communicator.
• An active SECRET clearance is required.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Master’s Degree in Engineering, Math, Operations Research or comparable technical field with 14+ years of demonstrated MS&A experience with space, ground, operations, or sustainment segments of DoD.
• Experience with M&S tools such as AFSIM.
• Statistical techniques for approaching complex problems with large amounts of data.
• Application of operations research techniques and supporting skills such as database query languages, design of experiment and response surface methodologies, scripting language programming, and development of appropriate models and simulations.
• Understanding of joint operations environment, and/or Offensive/Defensive weapons tactics.
• Experience with agile development processes.
• TS/SCI Clearance.
