Data Scientist

The Data Scientist will collaborate with members of the Analytics Center of Excellence (ACOE) and business users to build predictive models using third party and enterprise data. This position will work cross-functionally spanning departments including, but not limited to, Engineering, Production Planning, Manufacturing, Distribution, Procurement, Finance, Strategy, IT and HR. This position provides intermediate level support and training for analysts within the analytics function of the company.
Day-to-Day Role:
- Collaborate with Analytics leadership to develop an understanding of the business’ data analytics needs
- Break down complex problems into pieces that can be solved with data, analysis, assumptions, and judgment
- Cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources
- Research and apply innovative statistical and machine learning models for data analysis
- Identify actionable business insights
- Communicate findings through reports, dashboard, etc. to stakeholders, including non-technical business users to the executive level
- Write well-structured and understandable code to enable smooth collaboration across the team and successful model deployment
- Drive projects from initial concept through deployment, leveraging opportunities for automation
- Collaborate with Data Engineering to deploy models into production
Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or related field of study, Master’s degree, preferred
- Three (3) years of experience in a relevant field dealing with large data sets, conducting complex business analyses and presenting findings/conclusions in a compelling manner
- Technical skills including the suite of Microsoft Office products, cloud-based computing experience, and coding skills including SQL and Python
- Familiar with machine learning methods (supervised and unsupervised methods), applied statistical analysis (regression, time-series, inferential statistics), exploratory data analysis including clustering
- Strong collaboration and facilitation skills
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work effectively in a cross functional environment
- Able to adapt to the use of different tools as appropriate
- Results oriented individual with a bias for action
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of SAP Business Intelligence (BI)/Business Warehouse (BW)
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI
- Experience with Azure
- Experience with Databricks
- Demonstrated business acumen and experience in manufacturing and/or consumer packaged goods industries
- Experience with operational excellence, lean processes, continuous improvement
