Sentara Health is hiring a Specialty Pharmacy Technician for our Specialty Pharmacy team at Norfolk General Hospital!

Status: Full Time (40 hours)

Shift: M-F Days 8:00-4:30; 8:30-5pm, 9:30-6:00 (rotating shifts)

Weekend: Occasional Saturdays between 8:30 to 5pm.

Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA

Required qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience as Pharmacy Technician

• Virginia Pharmacy Technician License

• CPhT license through PTCB or NHA -required if licensed in VA after 7/1/2021

Preferred qualifications:

• Third-party online adjudication experience

• Pharmacy billing experience

• Outpatient pharmacy or long-term care experience

• Knowledge of patient financial assistance programs

• Specialty, retail outpatient, long-term care, or mail-order pharmacy experience

Job responsibilities:

Outbound and inbound calls handling patient concerns or complaints, serving as a subject matter expert within different areas of the pharmacy, training and/or being a resource for fellow employees, inventory management, and troubleshooting IT or system-related issues

Job Summary

The Specialty Pharmacy Technician II is an experienced pharmacy technician and will serve as a support to all aspects of the Pharmacy Technician workflow, and as a role model to the pharmacy team. Job duties include all functions of the Specialty Pharmacy Technician I, with additional responsibilities such as: directing workflow, handling patient concerns or complaints, serving as a subject matter expert within different areas of the pharmacy, training and/or being a resource for fellow employees, inventory management, and troubleshooting IT or system-related issues

Third party online adjudication experience, pharmacy billing experience, outpatient pharmacy or long term care experience, and Knowledge of patient financial assistance programs preferred.

Specialty, retail outpatient, long term care, or mail order pharmacy experience preferred

PTCB Certification required. Registered with the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician required.

HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Certifications - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
