Job Overview: 

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Manager, Business Intelligence to lead our growing BI function. This player/coach will not only own and execute data initiatives but also drive strategic vision and infrastructure growth to meet the demands of a scaling SaaS organization. You’ll be responsible for managing data flows, prioritizing requests, delivering actionable insights, and guiding a lean but high-performing team—starting with one direct report and expanding as needed. 

Responsibilities: 

Own the end-to-end BI ecosystem including data integrity, architecture, and governance within Redshift and Looker. 

Manage and optimize the data request intake and prioritization process, acting as a thought partner to cross-functional stakeholders. 

Translate business needs into clear, scalable reporting and data visualizations that accurately communicate clear core metrics. 

Collaborate with data engineering to maintain clean pipelines and integrate multiple data sources (e.g., Stripe, Zendesk) into usable insights. 

Leverage synthesized data to proactively analyze trends and communicate findings clearly with key stakeholders. 

Maintain and evolve the BI roadmap, applying Agile principles to drive transparency, velocity, and alignment with business priorities. 

Serve as a player/coach, splitting your time between strategic planning and hands-on execution. 

Own and lead alignment efforts with department heads and other key stakeholders.

Support ongoing process alignment across departments and refine data team workflows and communications. 

Empower the team by providing day-to-day guidance, performance feedback, and growth opportunities to direct reports. 

Requirements: 

Mastery of SQL with deep understanding of data manipulation and optimization.

Experience with Looker (or other similar visualization tools) required; strong grasp of data modeling and dashboard building.

Experience with Redshift or similar modern data warehouses. 

Demonstrated experience working in a SaaS or subscription-based business with familiarity around key subscription metrics (e.g., churn, LTV, CAC). 

Proven ability to act as a strategic leader, not just a request-taker—capable of shaping how data supports business growth. 

Excellent project management and prioritization skills in environments with a high volume of competing requests. 

Track record of being a self-starter who thrives with autonomy and proactively drives progress without needing direction. 

Preferred Requirements: 

Experience working with Stripe and integrating payment data into analytics.

Prior people management or mentorship experience in a growing data team environment. 

Experience with Zendesk or other customer support platforms and blending operational data into customer-centric insights. 

Background in building data functions from the ground up within a scaling tech company.
