Examples of duties
This position oversees activities within the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program, including budgeting, grant coordination, stakeholder support, and program evaluation. The role ensures that newborns receive timely screenings, accurate follow-up, and strong program oversight. As a Public Health Program Administrator, you will perform the following duties:
- Program Administration: Manage the EHDI program and ensure activities follow guidelines and timelines
- Budget Support: Assist with preparing the program budget and identify funding needs for activities
- Grant Coordination: Serve as project officer for federal grants, prepare applications, oversee agreements, and monitor fiscal activities
- Stakeholder Liaison: Communicate with hospitals, birthing centers, midwives, and advisory groups to support program needs and outreach
- Data Evaluation: Review program data, complete needs assessments, and use reports to evaluate screening outcomes and program efficiency
- Public Health Engagement: Participate in meetings, support education efforts, and assist with statewide initiatives related to newborn hearing screening

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Public Health Program Associate 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- A bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in the development, analysis, or monitoring of programs, grants, or contracts in health, human services, social or behavioral services, health care services, or health insurance; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
