Head of Video Production / Executive Producer
eBay Brand Creative | Role Overview
The Head of Video Production will build and lead an outstanding in-house content engine within Brand Creative. They are responsible for creating the systems, talent, and infrastructure that define how eBay appears in culture. This role's goal is to establish repeatable, high-quality production workflows that support eBay in developing culturally relevant, results-focused, brand-defining content at scale. The right candidate approaches work with a platform perspective instead of viewing it as isolated projects. They operate at the junction of creative goals and operational rigor, bringing the skills to develop something that endures beyond any one campaign. This role reports to Brand Creative leadership and works closely with Social, Brand Marketing, Product Marketing, Communications, Category Business Units, and Operations.
Core Responsibilities:
Production Leadership
Take charge of full-cycle in-house video production covering mid-funnel, social-first, and full-funnel brand initiatives. Direct budgeting, forecasting, vendor choice, crew staffing, and on-set coordination. Fulfill the role of senior production lead within Brand Creative — raising expectations for quality, craftsmanship, and operational precision in every video deliverable.
Content Engine Development
Build scalable production models that enable a single shoot to support multi-format content systems. Standardize briefing, bidding, production planning, and post-production workflows. Implement asset lifecycle management and rights frameworks that improve reuse and efficiency. Develop repeatable formats that balance creative ambition with operational rigor.
Vendor & Partner Strategy
Build and manage a strategic roster of directors, production companies, editors, and post partners. Negotiate rates, usage rights, and long-term agreements. Establish clear criteria for choosing internal production or outside partners. Focus on reducing dependence on agency infrastructure by improving internal models for better and faster results.
Team & Studio Infrastructure
Define the long-term in-house production org: producers, editors, studio support, and the hiring roadmap to build toward it. Assess and make recommendations on studio buildout — space, equipment, post capabilities — and establish technical standards for capture, sound, editing, storage, and archival systems.
Cross-Functional Integration
Embed production thinking early in the creative development process to ensure work is both ambitious and executable. Partner closely with Creative Directors, Copy, and Build teams to maintain high craft standards throughout. Collaborate with Social and Marketing teams to support performance-informed storytelling, and establish clear ownership boundaries between Brand Creative production and Operations.
Strategic Growth & Evolution
Build the in-house infrastructure that supports eBay's evolution into higher-impact brand and commercial storytelling. Contribute to the long-term roadmap for coordinated video and photo production. Position eBay not just as an advertiser, but as a credible, culturally proficient content producer.
What Success Looks Like
In 6–12 months, the role will deliver clear, scalable production infrastructure with measurable gains in content output, cost efficiency, and creative consistency. Looking further ahead, success means defining a roadmap for in-house studio capabilities. The production function will be recognized as a strategic asset throughout the organization, beyond just a service. Specific indicators include:
- Scalable production infrastructure set up and functioning
- Increased content output without quality trade-offs
- Improved cost efficiency through standardized workflows and vendor strategy
- Improved creative coherence in every video production
- Measurable reduction in redundant production spend
- Clear roadmap for expanded in-hous
