Seasonal Temporary Team Member (Winter – Spring 2025)

Summary

Seasonal Temporary Team Members provide essential store support during busy seasons.  They provide customer service, stocking, cleaning, and other functions throughout ABC stores.  The Seasonal Temporary Team Member may be scheduled for shifts any day of the week, Monday through Sunday.  Winter-Spring 2025 seasonal temporary position will be available starting January 8, 2025; the last day for this season will be April 17, 2025.

Responsibilities

Seasonal team members may do some or all of the following, depending on store needs:

• Share cheer and goodwill with our fellow team members and guests
• Provide exceptional guest service by greeting and assisting all guests, answering questions, recommending products, and locating items in-store or at a nearby ABC location
• Assist guests in getting their purchases to their vehicle
• Create gift baskets as needed, wrapping with enthusiasm, with attention to detail and creativity
• Operate a point-of-sale terminal to process guest transactions, involving basic cash handling and applying coupons or discounts in accordance with company policy (trained staff only)
• Unload delivery trucks, if needed, depending on schedule
• Assist in stocking the store throughout, including shelves and coolers
• Keep the store clean, which includes  assist with box breakdown, light trash removal, and light cleaning duties (sweep, mop, keep bathrooms clean and supplied)
• Deliver products to curbside as needed to our guests in their cars
• Arrive for shifts on time and ready to work.  Shifts may vary and are usually scheduled between the hours of 11 AM – 7 PM, 12 PM – 8 PM, and/or 3 PM – 10 PM.)
• Other duties as assigned

• Seasonal Temporary Team Members may be eligible to become ongoing employees of ABC, if there is a need for regular employment staffing and if the temporary staff and team leader agree that ongoing employment is a fit for both parties
• Seasonal team members for Winter-Spring 2025 are not eligible for bonus programs (TIP, etc.).

Job Requirements

Minimum Experience, Skills, and Education

• 21 years of age or over
• Have scheduling flexibility, with the ability to work weekends, holidays and/or nights
• Must present a neat and professional appearance, and is able to abide by the ABC dress code and earring/tattoo policy
• Retail experience or customer service experience desirable, but not required
• Positive attitude is a must
• Flexibility in daily job tasks is essential
• Able to interact with guests and other team members professionally and courteously
• Must pass company-issued background screening prior to hire

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stoop, lift, stretch, bend, and move during shift for store tasks
• Must be able to remain standing for long periods upwards of 8 hours at a time, and frequently move throughout the store, including stockrooms and backrooms on premises
• Must frequently lift and/or transport up to 35 pounds throughout the store including through any stockrooms or backroom on premises
• Must be able to operate a computer sales terminal and frequently handle or touch products, money and/or any object located within store property.   
• Occasionally ascends and descends ladders and step stools to safely access stockroom and floor shelves as needed
• A person in this position frequently communicates to guests, team members, and any other persons who may enter the premises and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Work Environment

• The work environment is a busy store environment, with interaction with people and products throughout the store.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• The team member is occasionally exposed to working in high, precarious places in the store or stockroom, when accessing ladders and steps stools is necessary.
• The team member is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, when maintaining the property and assisting guests is necessary.
• The team member is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, when utilizing cleaning solutions or supplies is necessary.  
• The team member is occasionally exposed to refrigerated temperatures between 32-41º F, when stocking and/or retrieving product in the cooler is necessary.
