Description

  

This position is a full-time, permanent clinical position onsite within Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance in Columbia, TN. 


Responsibilities

  • Accompanying providers during patient visits, recording detailed      information into the electronic health records (EHR) system, including      medical histories, physical examinations, and treatment plans while using medical terminology and abbreviations
  • Reviewing and updating patient records with test results, lab reports, imaging studies, and other pertinent information
  • Communicating effectively with patients, physicians, and other staff members in a professional and courteous manner
  • Maintain accurate and strict confidentiality of patient information in electronic and manual systems as established by the appropriate protocols, regulations, and policies
  • Document and provide patients with clear instructions regarding their care plan
  • Entering E&M/CPT codes and submitting charges to the coding department

Also included Intake Specialist (Medical Assistant) when not scribing:

  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting patients and maintaining a friendly demeanor.
  • Obtain patient medical history in electronic health records (EHR), vital signs, medication dosage and frequency, patient allergens, and assist with examinations
  • Maintain accurate and strict confidentiality of patient information in electronic and manual systems as established by the appropriate protocols, regulations, and policies
  • Assist with procedures such as injections as directed by the provider
  • Clean and sanitize exam rooms in between patient visits
  • Basic tasks such as removing sutures and applying bandages
  • Measure and apply patients with durable medical equipment (DMEs)
  • Provide instructions and directions to patients regarding diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments
  • Provide patient education and review home exercise programs

Requirements

  •  Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous clinical experience
  • Experience using NextGen or electronic medical records (EMR) systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detailed oriented

Preferred

  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
