About the role
Description
This position is a full-time, permanent clinical position onsite within Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance in Columbia, TN.
Responsibilities
- Accompanying providers during patient visits, recording detailed information into the electronic health records (EHR) system, including medical histories, physical examinations, and treatment plans while using medical terminology and abbreviations
- Reviewing and updating patient records with test results, lab reports, imaging studies, and other pertinent information
- Communicating effectively with patients, physicians, and other staff members in a professional and courteous manner
- Maintain accurate and strict confidentiality of patient information in electronic and manual systems as established by the appropriate protocols, regulations, and policies
- Document and provide patients with clear instructions regarding their care plan
- Entering E&M/CPT codes and submitting charges to the coding department
Also included Intake Specialist (Medical Assistant) when not scribing:
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting patients and maintaining a friendly demeanor.
- Obtain patient medical history in electronic health records (EHR), vital signs, medication dosage and frequency, patient allergens, and assist with examinations
- Maintain accurate and strict confidentiality of patient information in electronic and manual systems as established by the appropriate protocols, regulations, and policies
- Assist with procedures such as injections as directed by the provider
- Clean and sanitize exam rooms in between patient visits
- Basic tasks such as removing sutures and applying bandages
- Measure and apply patients with durable medical equipment (DMEs)
- Provide instructions and directions to patients regarding diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments
- Provide patient education and review home exercise programs
Requirements
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Previous clinical experience
- Experience using NextGen or electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Detailed oriented
Preferred
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
