Safety/Security Manager Job Summary: Manages planning, development, implementation, and oversight for safety and security programs for the Center. Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, students and visitors by establishing and enforcing policies and supervising security staff.
Duties:
- Ensures the safety and security of students, staff, visitors and property.
- Ensures the enforcement of all laws, rules and policies within scope of authority.
- Develops and implements MOUs with local law enforcement, fire, and local code officials.
- Provides direct oversight and supervision of safety and security functions and staff.
- Schedules foot patrols for all assigned areas and remains alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts and/or persons and other unusual conditions.
- Develops, implements, and maintain safety and security plans and procedures.
- Conducts and documents inspections and implements plans to abate identified hazards.
- Performs building safety and security checks.
- Coordinates the training of personnel in areas of safety, including first aid, CPR, accident prevention, investigation and reporting, workplace inspections and other matters related to implementing safety procedures.
- Coordinates the Center’s emergency preparedness plan.
- Participates in preparation and enforcement of Center’s safety and fire prevention program.
- Provides written and oral reports, briefings, or summaries to appropriate staff.
- Conducts periodic environmental, health and safety audits. Plans and promotes safety programs.
- Maintains knowledge of all applicable OSHA, EPA and DOT standards.
- Performs or assists with accident investigation as needed. Ensures that processes take necessary corrective action to prevent future safety incidents.
- Receives safety and security complaints and performs appropriate investigations. Monitors and evaluates security issues and recommends corrective action.
- Investigates vehicle accidents involving Center vehicles.
- Assists staff in quelling disturbances.
- Prepares written accident reports and other reports as required.
- Coordinates recruiting, selecting and training of safety and security staff.
- Responsible for proving leadership, advice and counsel to security staff on safety and security policy and procedures. Conducts daily briefing with security staff that cover assignments, proper dress, and procedures.
- Complies with all DOL guidelines, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
- Adheres to required property controls policies and procedures.
- Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
- Models, mentors and monitors appropriate career success skills.
- Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the individual’s scope and capabilities.
