Role: Senior Checkpoint Firewall Engineer

Location: Jackson, Tennessee. Would like someone hybrid but depending on candidates they’re open to remote.

Contract Lenth: 12 + Months CTH

Fully remote with the possibility of going onsite 1-2 times a month:

Must haves: VPN, Firewall admin

Nice to haves: Checkpoint– advance networking is great

Daily Responsibilities:

This person will be responsible for all aspects of managing and maintaining our Check Point firewalls, including design, implementation, configuration, ongoing optimization, and security monitoring.

Interview Process: Have a group interview and then secondary.

Notes: 8 hospitals, 90 clinics. Migrating over to Epic.

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Checkpoint Firewall Engineer to join our team and play a key role in strengthening our security posture. This person will be responsible for all aspects of managing and maintaining our Check Point firewalls, including design, implementation, configuration, ongoing optimization, and security monitoring. They will be a critical contributor in proactively identifying and implementing improvements to our firewall configurations, ensuring protection against evolving threats.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage complex Check Point firewall configurations.
• Proactively review and analyze existing firewall configurations to identify potential areas for improvement, including security best practices, efficiency, and performance optimization.
• Implement identified improvements to enhance security posture and firewall effectiveness.
• Configure and maintain advanced firewall features such as VPNs, IPS, application control, sandboxing, and threat prevention blades.
• Monitor firewall logs for suspicious activity and investigate security incidents.
• Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments of the firewall environment.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest Check Point software releases, security threats, and best practices.
• Provide technical support to other IT staff on Check Point firewall related issues.
• Document all firewall configurations and procedures.
• Participate in security initiatives and projects.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as a Network Security Engineer or similar role.
• Proven experience with Check Point Security Gateways and firewall technologies.
• CCSE (Check Point Security Expert) certification or equivalent experience highly preferred.
