Requirements:
- 4-6+ years in category management, retail analytics, syndicated data analysis, consumer/shopper insights, or CPG commercial analytics.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Marketing, Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Job Description:
The Senior Analyst, Category & Retail Insights turns retailer, category, shopper, and competitive data into decision-ready insights that improve GTLF performance. This role supports priority retailers and channels by building retailer-ready stories for JBPs/QBRs, resets, assortment decisions, and promotional strategy. The Senior Analyst partners with Sales, Trade Planning, Marketing, FP&A, and Supply Chain to ensure insights translate into actions tied to commercial levers (distribution, trade, price/pack, innovation) and are measured through closed-loop learning.
Job Responsibilities:
Retailer & Category Insights (Core)
- Own category and retailer performance reporting for priority customers/channels; identify drivers, risks, and opportunities.
- Build retailer-ready stories for customer conversations (category leadership, shopper insights, competitive context, whitespace).
- Develop recommendations for distribution opportunities (voids, ACV expansion, assortment optimization) and support reset planning.
Commercial Decision Support
- Partner with Director of Retailer and Consumer Insights and other team members to assess business performance gaps within your assigned brands.
- Create decision memos and “what to do next” recommendations for commercial leaders; clarify assumptions, risks, and confidence ranges.
- Partner with FP&A, Trade Planning, Demand Forecasting, and Account Executives to align insights with financial outcomes and measurement methods.
Competitive & Market Intelligence
- Monitor competitive moves, innovation activity, pricing/pack shifts, and consumption trends; surface early signals and implications. Recommend competitive response.
- Maintain and improve competitor and category trackers; escalate “material change” alerts with recommended responses.
Analytics Production & Data Quality
- Use syndicated data (e.g., SPINS, NielsenIQ/), POS, shipments, and internal data to produce accurate, repeatable analysis.
- Build scalable templates and automation-ready reporting; reduce manual work and improve speed-to-insight.
- Follow established QA and data governance standards; ensure outputs are customer- and executive-ready before release.
Closed-Loop Learning
- Produce post-event readouts for key promos, launches, resets, and initiatives; capture learnings and update playbooks.
- Maintain a library of “known plays” by retailer/channel and share insights with the broader commercial team.
