Position Overview:
The Manager of Health Policy plays a central role in advancing the U.S. Chamber’s Health Policy Center by supporting policy strategy and development, coalition management, and execution across the center’s three pillars: Employee Health, Consumer Health, and Emerging Health. This role works closely with the vice president of Health Policy and senior policy leaders to help manage coalitions and workstreams, advance member engagement efforts, inform strategic direction, and support projects, cross-team execution, and day-to-day operations that keep the health policy agenda moving forward.
This position is designed for a highly organized, results-oriented policy professional who can manage complex initiatives, work effectively with external partners, and balance policy substance with operational discipline.
The Manager of Health Policy is a key execution partner within the Health Policy Center, helping translate strategy into action across coalitions, vendors, and policy initiatives. This role offers meaningful responsibility, exposure to senior leadership, and the opportunity to help shape and scale the center’s work across its three pillars.
Responsibilities:
Coalition and Workstream Management
• Support the management and execution of coalitions and working groups aligned with the Health Policy Center’s three pillars: Employee Health, Consumer Health, and Emerging Health.
• Help drive pillar-specific workstreams forward by coordinating inputs, tracking deliverables, and supporting follow-through across members, consultants, and internal teams.
• Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for coalition participants and partners, helping ensure that workstreams remain aligned with strategic priorities, objectives, and timelines.
Policy, Strategy, and Research
• Conduct policy research and monitor legislative and regulatory developments relevant to the center’s priority issue areas.
• Draft and contribute to policy materials, including issue briefs, memos, background materials, and member updates.
• Assist the vice president and senior leaders in shaping policy strategy by helping identify priorities, surface trade-offs, and translate member input and policy developments into actionable recommendations.
• Support the development and execution of advocacy strategies aligned with the Chamber’s broader health policy agenda.
External Engagement and Events
• Support member, stakeholder, and policymaker engagement by preparing briefing materials and facilitating meetings and events.
• Help plan and execute coalition meetings, roundtables, and the Chamber’s flagship Health Summit, including agenda development, speaker coordination, and alignment with policy and member engagement goals.
• Represent the Chamber in meetings, briefings, and working groups, often alongside senior staff.
• Assist with media and communications efforts by working with the Communications team to prepare talking points, background materials, and
event-related content.
Operational Support and Vendor Management
• Help the vice president with budgeting and financial tracking for the center, including monitoring expenses, forecasting needs, and contributing to annual planning.
• Assist with contract management, approvals, and documentation related to coalition, research, and event initiatives.
• Track vendor and consultant deliverables, timelines, and performance to ensure that high-quality outputs are aligned with scope and budget.
• Support invoice review and payment processing by validating deliverables and coordinating with the Finance team.
