Cyber Incident Response - Quality Control Auditor

We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Cyber Incident Response Quality Control Auditor to join our talented, dynamic team in support of a large Federal Government customer. 

As a Cyber Incident Response Quality Control Auditor, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) digital assets and responding to potential cyber threats. Your primary focus will be supporting the Incident Response team by performing quality control audits.

Duties

1. Audit Cyber Incident Response Investigations: 

  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly quality control reviews of cyber incident response investigation tickets to ensure adherence to established protocols, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Validate proper investigation and analysis is being conducted with sufficient artifacts and evidence to support the investigations conclusion. 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of incident detection, containment, eradication, and recovery actions taken during investigations. 

2. Quality Assurance: 

  • Implement and enforce quality assurance measures to enhance the overall effectiveness of cyber incident response procedures. 
  • Identify and address gaps or deficiencies in existing investigation processes to continually improve response capabilities. 

3. Documentation and Reporting: 

  • Create comprehensive audit reports detailing findings, recommendations, and corrective actions. 
  • Collaborate with incident response teams to document lessons learned, best practices, and areas for improvement. 

4. Training and Development: 

  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to incident response teams to enhance individual and collective skills. 
  • Develop and deliver training programs focused on improving the quality and efficiency of cyber incident response investigations. 

5. Compliance Monitoring: 

  • Stay abreast of evolving cybersecurity regulations, standards, and best practices. 
  • Ensure that all investigations align with relevant legal and regulatory requirements. 

6. Continuous Improvement: 

  • Identify areas for continuous improvement in incident response procedures based on audit findings. 
  • Implement changes and enhancements to ensure the adaptability of the investigative processes to emerging cyber threats. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) 
  • 3+ years’ experience supporting security operations. 
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, threat intelligence, and attack methodologies
  • Experience in a quality assurance or auditing role within the cybersecurity domain
  • Experience with enterprise ticketing systems like ServiceNow  
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment to identify errors, pinpoint root causes, and devise solutions with minimal oversight
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
