The PositionThe Energy & Infrastructure (E&I) Credit team, part of Liberty Mutual’s $22 billion Global Alternative Markets platform, is seeking an Associate to join its growing platform. The E&I Credit team operates within the Alternative Credit group and focuses on credit investments across the infrastructure spectrum—including traditional energy, renewable power, energy transition, digital infrastructure, and diversified infrastructure assets.
Investing across the risk-return continuum, the team targets both investment-grade and growth credit opportunities. Through subject matter expertise, flexible underwriting, and execution speed, the E&I Credit team has built a reputation as a differentiated and value-added capital partner. This Associate role offers the opportunity to play a meaningful role on a lean, high-performing team contributing to the growth and continued success of the business.
Responsibilities
- Transaction Execution: Manage multiple projects at a time. Partner with senior team members to support all aspects of deal evaluation including investment framing, credit underwriting, due diligence, structuring and management of the investment committee process. Own the operational process and coordinate with internal stakeholders as the deal moves from initial screening to close.
- Creation and Presentation of Materials: Develop detailed investment committee memoranda and screening presentations. Present to team members and investment committees.
- Robust Analytical and Modeling Skillset: Perform detailed financial modeling and data analysis to support investment decision-making.
- Portfolio Management and Monitoring: Follow progression of closed transactions and communicate material changes to broader team members. Work on ad hoc requests to summarize portfolio metrics and performance.
- Value Generation: Drive robust relative value discussions across the organization. Be able to effectively communicate the underlying dynamics of the energy and infrastructure sub-markets. Seek to generate optimal risk-adjusted returns for the overall portfolio.
- Team Collaboration: Work independently in a flat/lean team structure and promote a culture of collaboration, being willing to work cross-functionally to add value across the organization.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance
- Experience: 3-6 years of relevant work experience in infrastructure, private credit investing, banking or similar financial institutions
- Skills:
- Previous experience in credit underwriting with a demonstrated ability to identify and evaluate transaction risks and risk mitigation strategies.
- Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, financial modeling skills, and decision-making ability.
- Written and verbal communication skills; comfortable making investment recommendations and addressing questions from an investment committee.
- Ability and willingness to go above and beyond to ensure deal execution happens on a timely basis while managing multiple responsibilities.
