A major focus of our work involves dissecting the role of disease-associated gut microbiota on promoting inflammatory immune cells in the intestine and at non-intestinal sites such as adipose tissue. We use in vivo approaches to dissect the mechanism by which changes in gut microbiota community contribute to inflammation. We use advanced techniques in immunology such as multicolor flow cytomtery, RT-PCR, RNA-seq and single cell RNA seq approaches to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the immune cell landscape in setting of disease-associated microbial changes. Additionally, we draw upon a robust biorepository of gut microbiota, intestinal tissue, and plasma specimens from humans to validate our findings.Assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.
