EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent, College Degree preferred. Some business, fitness, and communication skills preferred. Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language at a level sufficient to communicate effectively staff.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Experience in teaching tennis required. Must have or be looking to attain a USPTA or USPTR teaching certificate. Must be a competent player at A-level or above.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Working knowledge of all types of tennis programming. Must be able to run all aspects of Junior and Adult programming. Sound technical skills and outstanding ability to communicate with ages 5 to 80.
JOB SUMMARY: Work with Head Professional helping to teach all ages and ability levels. Keep records of all lessons, hours, and clinics taught.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Must be physically fit and be able to play tennis at a very high standard, teaching tennis in periods up to 8 hours a day, in varying weather conditions.
DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
1. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
2. Arrive to work on time consistently, arriving a minimum of 10 minutes before lesson starts.
3. Dress appropriately for position, including uniform, if applicable.
4. Hair must be clean and cut in a becoming style; management has final approval.
5. Attend all required training, safety courses; attend office and departmental meetings.
6. Report any safety hazards, follow up that hazard has been corrected, and assist with providing a safe work environment.
7. Greet members and guests by name whenever possible.
8. Communicate with members and guests frequently to insure their total satisfaction, with the facility.
9. Work toward USPTA or USPTR certification and stay current with all teaching methods.
10. Assist with all aspects of court maintenance and court cleanliness.
11. Perform and follow up on any duties as assigned by the Tennis Director.
