About the Project Manager, Digital Workplace Technologies Role 


The Project Manager, Digital Workplace Technologies (DWT) supports the DWT in evolving our Digital Workplace and Global Operations ecosystem at Material. They are responsible for planning, managing & delivering the scope & deliverables of projects resourced by a team of talented IT subject matter experts for Material’s people & customers. Together, the Digital Workplace Technologies team take responsibility for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity & availability of Material Identity, Security, Collaboration & Productivity, Endpoint, and Messaging systems and platforms delivering fit-for-purpose solutions that ultimately fulfill Material IT’s mission of People First.


The Project Manager, Digital Workplace scopes, plans, and delivers IT Digital Workplace initiatives at Material, encompassing subject areas such as:

  • Identity & Access Management (Microsoft EntraID, Google Workspace);

  • Collaboration & Productivity technologies (MS Teams, Slack, SharePoint Online, Webex);

  • Messaging and email security services (MS Exchange, Active Directory, Proofpoint, MDO);

  • Software-as-a-Service SaaS tools and integrations;

  • Operating System management, patching, and device management (Windows, iOS, Jamf, Intune, GPO);

  • Monitoring & alerting

  • Operational partners & extended teams supporting Material’s DWT needs.

A successful Project Manager, Digital Workplace Technologies will have managed a lean, effective team of self-starting, high performing IT generalists to deliver processes & solutions that “just work”.

These solutions will be cost-effective, performant & secure, seamlessly running Material’s digital workplace systems and platforms without friction or frustration by end users.

Together, the teams and Project Manager will have delivered & supported DWT solutions that our people love, demonstrating the impact a People First-centered DWT team has on Material IT’s culture & productivity.

Ultimately, this experience will equip the Project Manager with the know-how, goodwill & proven delivery to take on bigger opportunities in any broader IT management role they have a passion for.

As the Project Manager, DWT You Will:

  • A clear understanding of the Project Management processes strategies and methods

  • Build a process that collaborates effectively to deliver high quality deliverables 

  • Define project scopes, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management, IT analysts, and stakeholders

  • Manage bi-weekly sprint cycles, run daily standups, partner with DWT leads on defining scope and goals of their squads’ sprint, and leverage Agile methodologies to track progress of day-to-day operations and projects

  • Participate in planning of IT projects, working closely with stakeholders, partners, and IT SMEs to keep projects on time within budget

  • Proactively mitigate risks and resolve project-related issues

  • Responsible for informing team members and stakeholders of project status, and setup/creation of team meetings and communication plans tailored to meet team needs

  • Ability to manage and drive projects and carry out duties in compliance with established business policies

  • Drive projects to completion, escalating any issues, and reporting to management

  • Build, develop, and grow business relationships with project stakeholders at multiple levels and multiple locations vital to the success of the project

  • Manage internal and third-party resources with a primary initiative underway

  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans

  • Create management, communication plans and processes

  • Maintains knowledge through ongoing education and training
