POSITION SUMMARY:

Serves as a law enforcement intelligence analyst in the Division of Statewide Intelligence (DSI), Emerging Threat Analysis Center (ETAC). Responsible for identifying, collecting, evaluating, analyzing, collating, and disseminating intelligence on emerging threat information on relevant topics through the application of extensive analytical research/interpretive skills, the use of various investigative, intelligence, and informational sources/databases, and engagement with DSI’s Florida Fusion Center (FFC) and Florida Intelligence Center (FIC) teams.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Identifying and targeting emerging threats and high-profile incidents of interest potentially impacting public safety, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and/or the greater law enforcement and intelligence communities;
  • Formulating Key Intelligence Questions (KIQs) for both tactical and strategic emerging trends impacting Florida stakeholders;
  • Researching and collecting information, intelligence reports, and investigative reports to identify trends, threats, vulnerabilities, tactics, and techniques with potential impact to Florida;
  • Preparing analytical briefs, assessments, and other intelligence products based on experience and analysis both independently and as part of a group;
  • Presenting analytical findings via charts, graphics, written documents, and oral briefings;
  • Performing as lead analyst on specialized complex analytical projects to include coordination of various contributors, clarification of scope, and development and review of products;
  • Briefing command staff and external entities on analytical products and findings;
  • Establishing and maintaining liaison with and initiating and/or coordinating inter-agency contacts amongst FDLE entities and/or other partner agencies in matters pertaining to the acquisition and research of public and external agency records, as well as the sharing of information and intelligence in support of the DSI’s mission;
  • Communicating effectively with internal executives and supervisory personnel, as well as external contacts, to discuss issues, policies, and strategies of critical importance to the agency and the public interest;
  • Attending and/or supporting, upon request, various intelligence unit meetings in conjunction with other federal, state, and local law enforcement partners; and
  • Performing on-call and other duties as required.

 

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Crime Intelligence Analyst I

  • Four years of experience*

Crime Intelligence Analyst II

  • Five years of experience*

Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst I

  • Seven years of analytical experience**

Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst II

  • Nine years of analytical experience**

 

Applicable to all levels:

  • *Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or in a law enforcement agency.
