Business Area (BA) Wind is responsible for the development, construction and operation of wind power onshore and offshore as well as other non-hydro renewable activities, including solar and batteries. We manage the maintenance, operation and continuous improvement of wind generation assets, safely and with the highest levels of availability and profitability. We also perform the structuring and execution of project partnerships in accordance with our overall wind development strategy.

We have a vacancy for a Transport & Installation (T&I) Engineer for Decommissioning in BU Offshore Wind

Vattenfall Offshore Wind is recruiting a T&I Engineer for Decommissioning to be responsible for the technical interface & update of decommissioning plans at our Offshore Windfarms.

You will be part of the T&I Development and Engineering team within Construction & Logistics, working closely together with the T&I Offshore Product & Installation Managers interfacing with Vattenfall’s Project Teams and first-class Installation Contractors.

As the Vattenfall T&I Decommissioning Engineer for you will fulfil the following key roles:

• Being responsible for the decommissioning technical interface between all relevant internal and external stakeholders, in phases of development and planning of decommissioning of the offshore wind farm.
• Support the Decommissioning manager with operational assets monitoring, preparing -
  • Yearly update of decommissioning plan/strategy & budgets
  • Participate in Yearly external audits.
  • Support: Q&A email exchange, decom plan revisions, etc. in dialogue with authorities.
  • Monitoring possible changes in legislation and implications to our decommissioning plans.
• Being the technical interface towards the Offshore decommissioning Contractors.
• During prequalification and ITT delivery, support the procurement process regarding:
  • Technical content to be included in the Employer’s Requirements for decommissioning scope including specifications and associated demands.
  • Conduct the technical contract negotiations and ensure that the Employer’s Requirements, Interface Documents and Conditions of the Contract are developed into contract versions.
  • Review, compare, evaluate and final acceptance of decommissioning scope method statements, risk assessments, safety procedures and design reports recommending additional analytical considerations if necessary.
• Support the Decommissioning Project manager, manage day-to-day coordination and communicate with the Contractor(s), MWS, etc.
• Manage the lessons-learned process ensuring that corrective actions are both documented, promulgated and implemented.
• Keep abreast of technical developments to ensure that Vattenfall’s technical standards remain current.

Location  The Vattenfall office location is flexible and can be either: Kolding (DK), Amsterdam (NL), Hamburg (DE), London or Hexam (UK). The position is primarily office-based however travel will be required according to the requirements of specific projects and developments.

Qualifications

The successful candidate is likely to have :

• A first degree in a relevant discipline or Master Mariner with professional experience. A relevant second-degree qualification, as well as a professional chartership through a recognised Institution, could also be beneficial.
• 5-10 years of relevant experience working with offshore decommissioning logistics and transport of major power plants or the like, preferably within the renewable offshore wind energy sector.
• The ability to apply sound judgement to make decisions in challenging situations.
• Personal motivation with the ability to communicate effectively while remaining focussed on the challenges.
• Strong ability to interact with different disciplines in the Offshore Logistics sector.
• A good command of the English language, both spoken and written.
