Technical Product Manager, Security
Fastly is seeking an empathetic, creative, and adaptive Technical Product Manager to nurture Fastly’s delivery of differentiated software security capabilities. Whether you’re a junior PM just starting your career journey, a distributed systems nerd seeped in customer empathy, or a seasoned infrastructure software PM, we want to hear from you.
As a Technical Product Manager on Fastly’s Security Product Team, you will collaborate on our ambitious vision for the application resilience future where software engineers thrive and cyberattackers cry. Your curiosity about how we can minimize the impact of cyberattacks on our customers’ production software systems – and, ideally, ruin cyberattackers’ days – will propel your success as you collaborate closely with our engineering teams to define, scope, and prioritize features.
What You'll Do:
- Uplift engineering teams during development to ensure high quality, timely delivery by refining scope, collecting feedback, or prioritizing with pragmatism
- Connect with our target personas and internal customers to learn about their aspirations, worries, workflows, technical blockers, emotional experiences – then pattern-match across them and infuse these insights into all you do
- Collaborate with engineering teams across Fastly’s broader portfolio – Network Services, Compute, Observability – to leverage the power of our platform and define differentiated designs that are maintainable, scalable, and evolvable
- Perceive product opportunities across disparate data points, including user feedback, customer tickets, market research, security research, and more
- Develop your reputation as a subject matter expert and thought leader to support our revenue organization
- Partner with our Customer Security Organization to prioritize engineering projects that nourish our support goals
What We're Looking For:
- An enthusiastic, ruthless focus on discovering the “why” that underlies market problems and customer requirements across both socio and technical dimensions
- Constructive, thoughtful communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders led by curiosity and respect for shared outcomes
- The ability to distill complex dynamics and perspectives into clear choices to reach multi-faceted goals, including relevant trade-offs and success metrics
- Familiarity with modern software delivery (modular architectures, CI/CD), infrastructure tooling (IaC, Kubernetes), or platform engineering practices
- 3+ years of experience in product management, software engineering, or other customer-facing technical roles, ideally in B2B infrastructure software
We’ll be super impressed if you have:
- A passion for digging into the weird and wild, paired with an infectious joy for sharing knowledge
- A history of sound judgment and taste, driven – but not ruled – by experimental evidence
- Entrepreneurial energy, whether open source projects, conference presentations, or a handmade crafts side hustle
Work Hours:
- This position will require you to be available during core business hours.
Work Location(s) & Travel Requirements: Office/hybrid
This position is open to the following preferred office locations:
- San Francisco, CA
- Denver, CO
- New York City, New York
Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.
