About the role

Corporate IT is actively searching for an experienced Senior Manager, Product Development to develop business solutions to enhance our next generation data analytics product(s) that process a large volume of healthcare data and provide information to our partners in drug development, Science & Technology and Marketing.  The applicant is expected to be a strong, hands-on, technology leader with experience in creating Big Data applications that provide real world insights and optimization of clinical trial design using advance analytics capabilities. The ideal candidate will serve as the technical point person, working closely with product managers, data scientists and development teams to advance the product technology and business roadmap. They will be engaged in a wide variety of work, including but not limited to web applications and web service development, platform development, automation, and coaching/mentoring of teams adopting the platforms. The role will include dealing with complex business integrations, eliciting requirements, and implementing secure and high-performance applications across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manages/organizes a group of developers and leads specific development work streams autonomously, in line with business priorities

  • Leads the application Engineering team to build applications, considering future product roadmap

  • Leads technical design planning, solution approach and manages technical implementation, addresses technical concerns, ideas and suggestions

  • Identify and assess best sources/partners to drive product strategies and capability/capacity needs to enable growth, new product opportunities and market innovation

  • Analyzes, reviews, and provide feedback to increase operating efficiency or adapt new requirements. 

  • Consults with user to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives. 

Qualifications

  • Degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in building and productionizing high performing and scalable services/applications involving high volume of data processing within a software product development environment, preferably in the health care industry

  • Preference for candidates with prior experience in drug discovery, clinical development or commercial development in a life science company

Requirements:

  • Must be motivated, creative and technically astute.

  • Expertise in conceiving, designing, architecting and developing scalable and high performing web-based applications for data analytics products involving large volume of data processing and embedded ML models.

  • Strong Big Data processing experience with Spark, Hadoop, Databricks etc.

  • Prior or current experience with Java, Angular

  • SQL and Python programming skills.

  • Experience building Search Analytics preferably through Elastic search.

  • Problem-solving aptitude, with a willingness to work in a fast-paced product development environment and hands-on mentality to do whatever it takes to deliver a successful product.

  • Strong leader, with effective communication, and collaboration across multiple organizations

  • Proven experience in working cross functionally, leveraging their skills to influence and drive results within the matrix organization

  • Proven ability and responsibility managing teams of minimum 8-10 direct reports

  • Understanding data standardization practices in pharma domain, integrating Healthcare data, and security related to HIPAA is a plus.

  • Current or previous Labcorp or similar industry experience
