Overview

The On-Call Bartender supports conventions, meetings, banquets, and special events by delivering exceptional beverage service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Responsibilities

  • Prepare, serve, and present alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes, brand standards, and event specifications

  • Set up, stock, and break down portable and permanent banquet bars

  • Ensure all bars are fully stocked with liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, ice, and glassware

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar areas before, during, and after events

  • Verify guest identification and ensure compliance with all state and local alcohol service laws

  • Provide friendly, professional, and efficient service to guests in a high-volume setting

  • Accurately handle cash, tickets, or hosted bar procedures as assigned

  • Communicate effectively with banquet servers, supervisors, and event leadership

  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and union work rules and guidelines

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of professional bartending experience, preferably in banquets, hotels, or high-volume events

  • Knowledge of classic cocktails, beer, wine, and responsible alcohol service

  • Ability to work on an on-call basis with flexible scheduling

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Must meet all legal requirements to serve alcohol

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, often 6–8+ hours per shift

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, including kegs, cases of liquor, ice bins, and bar equipment

  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and crouching during bar setup, service, and breakdown

  • Manual dexterity to operate bar tools, open bottles, pour drinks, and handle glassware

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, crowded environments with frequent interruptions

  • Visual and auditory ability to identify guest needs, read tickets, and respond to verbal instructions

  • Ability to work indoors and occasionally outdoors, depending on event location

  • Ability to work variable shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
