Purpose of Job:
The Market General Manager II is responsible for the successful management of a company-owned distributorship to meet or exceed all distributorship and financial goals, including gross profit-generating and lead acquisition strategies.
Job Components:
Financial:
Direct accountability for the Profit & Loss (P&L) and budget performance for the distributorship.
Review, monitor, and analyze weekly scorecards and monthly financials to identify variances in fiscal year (FY) financial plans and create action plans in collaboration with the direct report leadership team and Regional Market Manager.
Investigate and communicate to the entire team activities that contributed to significant positive results.
Actively track Accounts Receivable (AR) to maintain an acceptable level for the region and develop action plans for accounts with unacceptable AR balances.
Participate in developing the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
Assess and manage inventory flow to ensure warehouse inventory accuracy, part number accuracy, and minimize unit waste (unaccounted for loss of units / broken and obsolete units).
Customer Focus:
Review, monitor, and analyze tools to identify dealers that may be declining.
Understand key account hierarchy, visit and maintain relationships with key account decision-makers, and build meaningful business relationships with dealers.
Investigate all complaints and respond back to customers within a reasonable timeframe.
Effectively lead and manage the local Sales Team to acquire new business within the regional market, grow the customer base, and foster strong partnerships with existing dealers.
Spend significant time in the market to gain an in-depth understanding of competitive products and services
Ensure service to National Accounts meets or exceeds Service Level Agreement (SLA) expectations.
Human Capital:
Communicate Enterprise initiatives, Interstate Owned Territory (IOT) goals, and Regional objectives to distributorship staff to ensure clarity and alignment.
Establish set weekly meetings with the distributorship’s staff.
Provide annual performance reviews to all Team Members.
Hire and promote individuals based on their demonstrated performance and alignment with Interstate Batteries’ values.
Manage and lead a team to achieve annual goals.
Provide performance management utilizing a progressive discipline process.
Provide recognition and reward for Team Members who demonstrate outstanding performance.
Provide consistent training and coaching to develop Team Members' knowledge, abilities, and skills.
Process:
Manage the integrity of the reporting systems by holding Team Members accountable for data submission into systems to ensure accurate and timely information
Ensure compliance with all IOT standard operating procedures, including OSHA and DOT compliance.
Focus on the development of best practices that provide greater productivity and efficiencies and drive distributorship revenue goals.
Manage routing procedures to ensure maximum utilization of equipment and labor.
Provide ongoing feedback for continuous process improvement.
Execute enterprise pilot programs, as needed.
Support Enterprise, Interstate Owned Territory (IOT), and Support Center initiatives.
Follow up and follow through on preventative fleet maintenance requirements.
Execute all Safety Programs and foster a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience with a track record of producing positive results.
Previous experience in a Warehouse or Distribution environment is preferred.
Computer skills including basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge of battery business and/or automotive systems is preferred.
