Job Description
Position Summary
The Senior Analytical Chemists will interface with Product Management, Sales, Marketing, and New Product Development to innovate new methods and products based on market demand by utilizing your expertise and experience in the field. This is a role in the Analytics Department in which the chemist is expected to prepare analytical samples for analysis, be proficient in instrument operation, maintenance, analysis, and interpretation of wet and analytical chemistry results. This role also includes a leadership component with joint direct oversight of chemists and technicians. This involves annual performance reviews and planning of daily workflow, training, instruction, strategic mapping of methods, work instructions, and relevant use of instrumentation. The role will provide feedback to other departments and contribute to successful production, qualification, packaging, shipping, and sales of products in the relevant area of expertise. All procedures will be performed according to all safety requirements. Chemists will be working with concentrated acids and organic solvents to prepare samples.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide recommendations and guidance for new instrumentation and development of methods for new products.
- Recommend, validate, and place into service new instrumentation as the need arises.
- Develop, validate, and improve analytical methods.
- Work with Sales, Marketing, Product Management and New Product Development to develop new products and methods.
- Support product investigations and oversee analytical laboratory deviations/ investigations.
- Lead corrective actions (RCCA) that result from process flaws and customer complaints.
- Work with management/customers to respond to complaints, empathize with customers, and guide LGC to a satisfactory resolution.
- Expected to be the department expert for analytical instruments and techniques such as ICP-OES, ICP-MS, WD XRF, Arc Spark OES, IC, combustion analysis for C, O, N, H, S
- Expected to be the department expert on digestion and sample preparation of metals and geological materials for analysis.
- Prepare geological, metallic, aqueous inorganic, and/or other real world material samples per procedure for instrumental analysis.
- Process, interpret, and report analytical data generated by instrumentation to determine the validity of the analysis, product characteristics, and quality release of the product as a certified reference material as per ISO standard 17034 and 17025.
- Operate and troubleshoot all analytical instruments in the analytical suite, including instruments outside main area of expertise.
- Responsible for maintaining, arranging, and ordering raw materials, chemicals, and supplies for applicable lab work areas and ensuring that equipment operates properly by performing routine maintenance, scheduling repairs, service visits, etc.
- Perform Performance reviews for direct reports
- Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
- Develop, coordinate, and enforce system policies, procedures, and productivity standards in Analytics Department
- Support, train, and coach Analytical Lab staff members
- Active member in the Quality Management System accredited/certified to ISO 17025, 17034, 17043 and 9001.
- Active member of an ancillary group (Spill Team, Hazardous Waste Coordinator, Safety Committee, First Aid Responder).
- Act as a mentor to staff and exemplify a work ethic of enthusiasm, safety, and a sense of urgency with regards to daily delivery
- Exemplify the LGC core values on a day-to-day basis.
- Other duties as assigned by management.

Essential
- Advanced degree in scientific field with 5 - 10 years of relevant analytical instrume
