About the role

WE ARE SEEKING students for internship that are pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar. We design hardware and software across many industries, including medical devices, industrial automation, oil & gas, consumer products, and aerospace.

You will be working in small teams with other highly skilled engineers and developers to create new technology for our clients. You should have a proven track record of being able to pick up new tasks and tools and be multi-faceted in your skillset and interests. Expect to be constantly challenged as part of an organization that strives to push the technological envelope in delivering innovative solutions to customer problems.

Sparx is a casual and highly collaborative work environment. Our relatively small team helps us utilize the best of each player on different projects


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the electrical engineering team with detailed electrical design, including component selection, circuit simulation, and schematic capture
  • Assist with soldering, fabrication, and assembly of electronics, wiring harnesses, and hardware systems
  • Hands-on testing of PCBs and electrical systems using electrical test tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, digital multimeters, and temperature and vibration chambers
  • Implement schematics and PCB layout per client requirements and best design practices
  • Troubleshoot and fix issues with existing designs
  • Participate in design reviews to review other engineering designs
  • Collaborate with software engineers to develop and test firmware.

Requirements

This position requires enrollment in university courses for an Electrical / Computer Engineering BS or MS, or other relevant degree plan. Experience in the following areas is also preferred:

  • 3rd year university level
  • Experience with Altium for PCB Design
  • Strong problem solving and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Experience with soldering and reworking PCBs
  • Experience in troubleshooting electronics
  • Experience with precision analog design
  • Experience with DC/DC circuit design
  • Firmware development (C/C++)
  • Excellent mathematics skills
