Position Summary:
The Superintendent, Automation, Electrical & Measurement (AEM) – is responsible for leading the safe, reliable, and cost-effective execution of automation, electrical, instrumentation, SCADA, communications, and measurement activities across Crescent Energy's Permian Basin region. This position provides leadership for field Automation, Electrical, and Measurement personnel while ensuring production facilities, well sites, saltwater disposal systems, water infrastructure, compressor stations, and associated equipment operate safely and reliably.
The Superintendent partners closely with Production Operations, Facilities Engineering, Drilling, Completions, Production Engineering, IT/OT, Production Accounting, HSE, Supply Chain, and Regulatory teams to maximize production uptime, improve equipment reliability, and support Crescent Energy's operational growth throughout the Permian Basin.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and development to AEM foremen, technicians, and other assigned personnel across the Permian Basin.
- Establish regional priorities and allocate company and contractor resources to meet production, reliability, project, and emergency-response needs.
- Set clear performance expectations; manage employee performance, competency development, training, succession planning, and career progression.
- Build a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement while promoting effective communication across field teams.
- Participate in workforce planning, recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, organizational design, and after-hours coverage planning.
- Select, direct, and evaluate contractors based on safety, technical quality, cost, schedule, reliability, and adherence to Crescent standards.
Automation, SCADA & Field Communications
- Oversee the design, programming, installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, SCADA systems, telemetry, control logic, and associated instrumentation.
- Ensure automation systems provide reliable monitoring, alarm management, remote control, data capture, and operational safeguards for wells, facilities, compression, water systems, and disposal assets.
- Lead automation upgrades and evaluate technology that can safely reduce downtime, eliminate repetitive work, improve surveillance, and increase production efficiency.
- Oversee field communications infrastructure, including licensed and unlicensed radio, microwave, wireless networks, backhaul, routing and switching, towers, antennas, and supporting power systems.
- Coordinate with IT/OT and cybersecurity teams to maintain secure, supportable industrial networks, controlled access, backups, configuration standards, and recovery capability.
- Ensure critical communications and SCADA outages are promptly diagnosed, escalated, communicated, and resolved; maintain practical response and contingency plans.
- Maintain accurate network, configuration, asset, inventory, licensing, and as-built documentation and ensure applicable FCC, FAA, and tower-safety requirements are met.
Electrical Systems
- Ensure the safe and reliable operation of medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems supporting Permian Basin production assets.
- Oversee installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, motors, generators, protective devices, backup power, and solar-powered systems.
