Senior Instructional Designer, Scripps Journalism Journey Initiative (Remote)

The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer, responsible for understanding business strategic goals designing and developing effective, experience focused learning solutions and materials across the organization. This position will work closely with the Lead Spec, Learning and Development, subject matter experts (SME’s), graphics team, and external vendors. The position will report to the Sr. Director of Learning and Leadership Development.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Analyzes requests to understand root of training need and apply instructional design and cutting-edge development principles to produce engaging and innovative learning programs to drive achievement of company objectives, and our values-based culture.
Manages the on-time and quality correct delivery of your scope of training, including successful fulfillment of activities involved in the planning, design, development, implementation, delivery, maintenance, and innovation of training and development programs.
Work with Lead Spec, Learning and Development and or SME's to identify target audiences training needs and develop plans to meet these needs.
Establishes strong partnerships and interactions with management, peers, functional technical leads, company SMEs, and other stakeholders. Gains the cooperation of others as needed.
Designs and develops eLearning courses, instructor-led training programs, video learning, and certification content.
Creates assessments and support measurement strategy.
Leads working teams, and work groups to enable the successful delivery of targeted outcomes.
Proactively monitors all phases of work and identifies issues quickly, develops and executes solutions.
Facilitates, delivers, and provides training and/or presentations as needed.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience.
Generally, 5+ years’ experience developing / designing e-learning and blended training programs working with subject matter experts during analysis, design, and development to produce quality training materials within established time frames preferred.
Generally, 2+ years of experience with demonstrated success and increasing responsibility in learning and development including instructional design preferred.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Strong project management skills and the use of multiple learning modalities will be necessary to manage and design engaging programs
Experience in program management, performance improvement, and leadership development preferred
Experience with a Learning Management System preferred
Experience incorporating multiple media elements into learning programs including audio, video, animation, simulation, and self-developed graphics preferred
Exceptional consultative skills with high level of empathy towards the clients’ business problems.
Knowledge of adult learning, instructional design and distance and hybrid learning theories and methodologies
Demonstrate a focused, organized, and systematic approach to accomplishing tasks and achieving goals
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively with a project team, cross-functions and with outside vendors.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-moving environment and to meet project deadlines
Proficient use of, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office, and/or equivalent development tools required
